We hit the press in 2023 for great accommodation!! Privately managed with owners near, no corporate letting agency managing. The cottage is unique and comfortable. Multi stove log burner, stunning views. Own Balcony in peaceful area. Secure garden. Doggy guests warmly welcomed. Walks on the doorstep. Based on the borders of Northumberland, Co.Durham and Cumbria, ideal for a range of jaunts in the region. Butterfly Lodge our converted cart house is also proving a hit. Have a look!

The space
Smashing converted hay Barn with stunning views and fully enclosed garden to keep canine guests safe. Up dated recently and redecorated with a eye on detail. We don't do bland snd believe guests appreciate an interesting environment and comfort. There's an open plan living area with Vaulted ceiling and wood burning stove, a kitchen/ dining area, well equipped if you want to eat in. The cottage is fully central heated and guests have control of the system via the Hive control. There are views from all the old thick deep set windows and the main stable style door out to the Decked balcony overlooking the Valley and Pennines toward Teesdale. Going downstairs to a uniquely decorated bedroom with fully tiled Bathroom with full sized bath, thermostatically controlled shower and dressing area and much commented on mural of Durham Cathedral cloisters. Good quality comfy King Sized pocket sprung and memory foam mattress and Luxury Alpaca duvet and pillows which are natural fibre and hypo allergenic. Spare pillows and blankets are also available in the draws.

If you are looking at a motorcycle holiday why not stay with us? Secure parking and washing facilities for your bike/s. We are now also able to offer a complimentary half day or full day motorcycle tour. See the seldom travelled roads of Weardale or an extended trip to Hadrians Wall country where you will be taken on road and off road (loose gravel) byways to get that illusive picture. Weardale is well known by motorcyclists for it's interesting roads but most stay on the main routes and miss a lot! Why not join me for a good day out?

Guests have full use of the One bedroomed cottage with their own door and gated area and fully enclosed private garden for their sole use and private tarracë balcony overlooking er looking the valley and hill beyond. They have their own dedicated parking space in front of the cottage.

Other things to note
The cottage is set on the hillside off a small maintained quiet road, which goes up onto the moors above the cottage. The windows over look the Wear Valley and the Pennine range. Striking views do mean that the area is hilly and the house can be reached via 1 very steep hill or via another back road which is meandering but less steep.

Bruce and I are early retired professionals. We enjoy going to the theatre and the cinema and meals out with friends. Bruce enjoys opera. We own a spaniel and rough collies and go for long walks and enjoy gardening. We like being rural which is just as well as that's where we live!! We like going abroad for our holidays usually somewhere warm and have plans to get to America sometime in the near future. We own an American Safari Trek RV , which spends more time in the workshop than on our drive or adventuring out! As hosts we like to provide quality things for guests to have in the cottage and we like to meet our guests when they first arrive but we are otherwise low key unless guests want more involvement with us.
