About this listing

Our resort style home is tucked away behind a red wooden gate flanked by lava rock walls leading to a welcoming etched glass front door. Local fauna leads to a warm & relaxing stay with interiors that reflect the pacific rim. Come in and experience!

The space

Our home is a delightful surprise located in Waikoloa Village. The house is all about the common living space and is lush with vegetation that surrounds the property making it private to it's residents. The lanai has a gas grill and full kitchen is available upon request. Apple TV is available with complimentary NetFlix. Paid channels are at the guests expense.

There is a room refrigerator for your convenience and we have snorkeling gear and beach chairs you may borrow as needed. Bike rentals are available at Bike Works Beach and Sport at the Queen's Shops at Waikoloa Beach resort area.

We are people people! We love good conversation and are open to evening wine, cocktails and pupu's. We are open to dinner nights when planned.

Waikoloa Village is a suburban community with Golf Course and Club House. Shopping is available at the Highlands Center conveniently located within the Village. We have excellent dining at Pueo's Osteria for Italian dining and Lava Java Cafe for coffee and casual meals all located at the Highlands Center just minutes away. Note that there is live music at Lava Java daily in a comfortable open indoor/outdoor environment that is tastefully designed and comfortably welcoming. Note that Pueo's has a dress code of collared shirts for men to maintain atmosphere. Also located at the center are Mexican and Organic Thai cuisine to go!

Car rental is the most efficient way to get around. Hele On is available but the Big Island is rural so be prepared to have a rental car. Four wheel drive is needed to descend into Waipi'o Valley and ascending to the summit of Mauna Kea.

What do you want to get from your trip?see different sciences with where you live, meet different people you never meet, see a different life you never thought! John and Antony could provide you all you want from your journey. This is my first time to have a private room by AIRBNB,as usually I always have a whole house,it's very special for me. Elizabeth and me so lucky could meet them and their lovely dogs. Location is good,15 mins to the beach and shopping center,50 mins to observation,40 mins to KOA airport. Elizabeth and I hard to say goodbye to them, you must be love them all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Johns beautiful home. Their home is stunning with a lot of personal touches from his travelling adventures around the globe - must hear of over a glass of wine or two! The room is ideal with ample storage and very comfy bed. Its detached from the room (again fully equipped with lovely art and sculptures) but you have your own wing of the house so feels private. The hosts were more than happy to give their top tips for things to do and places to see which made our stay smooth and days fully packed. Highly recommended and will stay again without hesitation.

Response from John:
Very glad that you had such an amazing time but moreover, were able to manage the Kalapana Lava Boat Tour. It's really a once in a once in a life time experience when you don't live here as Kilauea is a hot or miss situation. Definitely come again when you're back this way and we'll contact you when we hit the UK! You and Katrina are awesome!

We had a wonderful stay with John and Anthony. Since we are birders, we truly enjoyed hearing the many wonderful bird songs particularly in the morning as we awoke to their amazing coffee. John was extremely helpful prior to and including our trip. He provided us with numerous options to enjoy the island. He was amazingly responsive at all times. John gave us some outstanding recommendations for meals - we particularly liked Pueos, but Monstera, Blue Room, and Island Lava Java were excellent as well. And the local KTA store was amazing. Waikoloa Village was very convenient for us to launch our days and be within short drives of the restaurants mentioned - there are more. Bart & Karen

Response from John:
Thank you for your kind words. We truly enjoyed having you as our guests and new friends. While we initially sought out Airbnb as added income, we immediately realized that it was so much more than that to us...life is about people and connecting and with every guest, we gain so much more about the people that inhabit this earth and enhance our experience than we could ever monetarily receive. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us! Much aloha, J&A

John and Anthony were friendly, helpful, and worked hard to make our stay excellent. They were flexible with our check-in time. They maintained a beautiful, clean, and comfortable home. They even let us use their washer and dryer.

My husband and I are very easy going and enjoy having guests in our home. We offer opportunities to take guests to the top of Mauna Kea on week-ends so please inquire about rates and availability. We have a laundry room that is available to guests for clothing only in our split wing style home that is located near your room. When you enter and exit the room the glass hallway affords the courtyard view with privacy and you will have your own bathroom at your disposal. We love travel and culture and have done so extensively. Our motto: "Life should be an adventure! Now, go take on the day!"
