Socrates is an awesome host. He provided us a perfect location, directly at the sea. The house was simply equiped but lovely decorated as Socrates builds unique furnitures by himself. The house was absolutely clean. We could even use the brand new washing machine, which made us feel much more comfortable during our two weeks stay. We really enjoyed sitting in the garden, watching the waves and sunsets. The garden is directly connected with the beach. To sum things up: His place is the most wonderful place on the whole island, especially when you want to have some distance to mass tourism.

What a find, this is a beautifully relaxed place to stay.....Sit back and kick your shoes off. Listen to the waves, lay on your back and look at the stars, watch the storm roll in as the sky changes from bright blue to dark grey.... Walk on the beach and collect drift wood, or walk on the beach and listen to your thoughts. Read a book, write a book! listen to music, just be....... This is a place where you can do as much as you want or as little as you want.... Lay in your bed and open the patio doors, what a view. The sunsets are even better, be up at sunrise and walk on an empty beach (its empty all the time). Eat dinner cooked on the BBQ, light the candles and enjoy the warmth of the night. Its just a great find....... Socrates is warm, friendly and loving and he has a fantastic sense of humour, he will go out of his way to ensure you have the best stay possible. Nothing is too much trouble for him. His priority is for you to enjoy yourself. Socrates is not in your face, he`ll be around if you want him to be and he will stay in the background if you want him to....its your holiday!.... The beach house was exactly as listed, relaxed, basic and comfortable, it fits with the setting and doesn`t try to be anything else. If you want luxury go somewhere else, but if you want relaxed this is the place to be. It has everything listed and now even has a hairdryer!.....Thank you socrates for coming to my aid........If you want to eat out Georges Taverna is less than a minutes walk, here you will find fabulous food coupled with fabulous hospitality. Other Tavernas are a short walk away but set back from the sea....If you want to eat in try cooking on the BBQ, there are shops within a 5min drive, we found the smaller local supermarkets to be better than the larger ones, less busy and lots of local produce, but that was our preference, explore for yourself, and try the local beer. Socrates had a few local beers and his home made wine wating for us on arrival, it was a really nice welcome and it was also nice to share a glass or two with Socrates later in the week.........word of warning, it really is an easy drive back to the airport but the airport signs disappear as you reach Corfu town and then reappear when you are on top of the airport, so you`re not really sure which route to take, as you enter Corfu town DON`T take the sign that says TOWN!!!! (as we did).....you`ll end up stuck in traffic going round in circles......take the road to the right........Yes, we were the ones who kept the flight waiting!...apologies to fellow passengers...... All in all a GREAT stay!.........x

I consider myself biased when reviewing the delightful houses at Almyra and Socrates as a host, because after the first visit to this wonderful place and after dealing with Socrates we are now more friends and brothers than host and client. Nevertheless, without exaggeration it is fair to say that you will likely not find a more relaxing and idyllic spot in Corfu than these houses, nor a more friendly, courteous and genuinely hospitable host than Socrates. I highly recommend this location for anyone wanting a truly relaxing holiday in a beautiful place away from the masses. Special mention also goes to George and his wonderful taverna and authentic Greek cooking right next door.

Where to start? The house was everything we were dreaming of… and more. Plenty of space, everything we needed (well-equipped kitchen, storage, barbecue, outside showers, beach toys and towels, even bicycles available), but mostly location, location, location. Right on a secluded beach with a nice terrace and garden where we could relax, eat, and barbecue, while only a few steps from the clear, clean water (rocky shore though) with a stunning view on the coast of Albania. Very often, it felt like a private beach as we were the only ones there. A few tavernas are within walking distance. We walked to Achavari one day and even with our 5-year old’s little legs, it only took one hour and a cab back only cost 6 euros. And then, there is Socrates. A kind and thoughtful while discreet host who made us feel like friends. He drove us around for shopping and even took us to his inland village festival, let alone the trip on his handmade sailboat which was a real treat for us and our little boy. If you want peace and seclusion, we could not recommend Socrates' place enough. We enjoyed it so much we did not miss having a car, but if you want to do some exploring, it may be worth it considering renting one.

A gem on the wilder side of Almyros beach. Simple, well-designed and maintained, in sync with its environment, the sea, wind and beautiful sunsets. Socrates is a great host, he helped us with anything we needed, good coffee included :)

Amazing beach house literally right on the beach! Location is fabulous! Away from the tourist areas, and very quiet and relaxing, wth views across the sea to the mountains of Albania. You'll sleep to the sounds of waves crashing on the private beach right outside your door. We had plans to tour the island, but after seeing how nice it was at the apartment, we spent most of our time there. Socrates is an amazing host who really goes out of his way to make his guests feel welcome. He even took my children and I out for a short sailing excursion in his handmade sail boat. He also provided a bottle of his homemade wine and olive oil, and a few bottles of local Corfu brewed beer, all of which were excellent. We rented a motor boat at the next beach down, and toured all along the northeast coastline, which I highly recommend. Supermarket is just a short drive away, as is Kalamaki Grill, with the best gyros in Greece! There is Georges Taverna just across the street which has excellent food. It's only a 15 minute drive to Sidari, which is very touristy, but definitely worth a stop. Also, be sure to see Old Town Corfu either on your arrival or departure day as its right near the airport. I highly recommend anyone to stay at this apartment!

To say that Socrates is a wonderful person is underestimating his attitude. There are no words to describe his warm welcoming, his kindness and attentiveness.....he not only was a perfect host, but proved to be a true friend especially when, during our stay, we had an unpleasant incident. The house pictures are totally reflective of what it really is...a small paradise. Socrates is also an artist, as a matter of fact he decorated the house himself in a beautiful rustic sea style. The house has every confort everything one might need to spend a great holiday. The house is located within walking distance from some very nice tavernas, and only few minutes away by car from shops and markets in the nearby village of Acharavi. We would suggest to anyone this host and his house, and we cannot wait to go back one day. Many thanks from our dog Luna whom also had a perfect holiday in complete freedom and with many friends. Thank you very much Socrates for all from the three of us ;) Grazie infinite. ευχαριστώ πολύ ;)

Live and work in Corfu/Greece. I spend my time making web sites, looking after these houses in Almyros Beach, my tomatoes, olive trees and vineyard. When there is some time left I do some sailing by my hand-made sailing boat with friends or my guests.
