Marjon has created a corner of paradise high on the mountain of Santa Teresa. We stayed in an architect-designed tower with breathtaking views across to the Christ Redentor. The tower is beautifully decorated with traditional Brazilian tiles and simple fabrics, pictuers and artefacts to create a comfortable and charming environment in the midst of a lush tropical garden. Marjon is a lovely host, warm, welcoming and very helpful with tips for visits and eateries. A constant flow of buses from just outside takes you to and from the city centre effortlessly. Watch out for the troops of monkeys - they are delightful to watch but shameless thieves! Despite warnings from Marjon we put out our breakfast fruit on the table in the open air kitchen and within minutes the marauders had snatched it all. We learned the hard way!

We had a wonderful stay at Marjon's house in Rio. Her friend let us in and showed us round, which was perfect. It was our honeymoon, and Marjon had decorated the bedroom with white flowers, which was so pretty. It is hard to describe the view, because the words are all so overused, but it is a breathtaking view of a very different part of Rio. We loved the stay, and would definitely come again.

Marjon was a great host - she met us when we arrived and gave us some great tips on local things to do and see. The house is fantastic and has the most amazing views. This is a real special and unique place to stay we would definitely recommend staying here

Marjon is a great host. Flexible, accommodating and went above and beyond to help us sort out the next steps of our trip for which we are very grateful. After being in Ipanema for a couple of nights, staying at Marjon's calm location was just what we needed. Only a 5 min bus ride to main Santa Teresa and the bars/restaurants. Marjon's place has everything you need and amazing views. For that, we stayed an extra night to experience it more. We didn't see the monkeys but we did see the toucans! Thank you Marjon!

Marjon was extremely welcoming and provided invaluable advice on places to go and how to get around. She went out of her way to help me plan my cancer survival New Year's celebration which was spectacular and for which I was extremely grateful. The lodgings are decorated simply and beautifully and the views are as promised - I miss waking up to my "window that looks out on Corcovado". The outdoor kitchen area pictured is lovely to sit in day or night. The public transport system is great as the bus does stop right outside the house. However, taxis can be problematic but if Marjon is there to give directions then all is well. The area of Santa Tereza is gorgeous and well worth walking through. Also I would recommend a daytime walk along the road around the house for spectacular views of Rio and for the luscious nature. The stairs to the bedroom, while beautiful, can be a a little tricky to navigate so, if you have mobility issues, another part of the house might be better for you. The water was warm but absolutely fine and refreshing when it's 30+ degrees outside. Engage with Marjon - a fount of knowledge, energy, and fun! Staying here gives you an experience you could not have if (1) Marjon were not your hostess; and (2) you were staying by the beach. A beautiful and peaceful retreat. Not a place for the elderly or people limited on time in Rio. It was a unique experience that gives a privileged glimpse of real life in Rio and, of course, of Corcovado. I would do it again.

We're really glad we staid In Santa Tereza, we found the area the nicest in town. Marjon's house is absolutely beautiful and gave us a really authentic taste of Rio and it's surrounding neighbourhoods. The double level apartment is situated amongst the most luscious landscape we've visited with monkeys and toucans all around. Theirs always a bus to town and the stop is just outside the front door - really handy! Marjon was extremely helpful throughout and gave us guidance and advice on anything we needed. A lovely stay and very highly recommended.

Marjon went out of her way to make us feel welcome and gave us the lowdown. The house was amazing - overlooking the mountains with stunning. The area itself has lots to offer and it is also extremely well placed for exploring Rio. It was like being in a national park in the centre of the city. We also felt perfectly safe. Highly recommended!!
