Where you’ll be

Klavsi, Greece

Karpenisi is a pole of attraction in winter thanks to its ski resort and in summer, as it gives you the opportunity to discover the unique natural beauties, such as the alpine-type lake in Velouchi, Panda Rain, the Black cave, the lake of Kremasta, the Arched Bridge of Magganiari, the source of Amblas and so many other beauties that will fascinate you. For this reason, it receives thousands of visitors every year.
Religious tourism finds one of its most ideal expressors, thanks to the Monastery of Prousos. Overall the Municipality of Karpenisi has Byzantine monuments, churches monasteries also, played an important role in all periods of Greek history and culture, resulting in memorable archaeological sites and museums.
If you are fond of hiking, climbing routes, 4x4 routes, mountain biking, rafting, canoeing, kayaking and river trekking and horseback riding, surely your holidays are promising.
As for lovers of good food, it offers pure traditional dishes all made with care, such as river trout, Evritania sausages, katiki, pies, trahana, wild boar stew, casserole in clay, etc.

Klasi for many is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Potamia. Climatic conditions make it attractive. With the best orientation to the sun, it enjoys its beneficial rays most of the day. It is located at an altitude of 790m and is 9 km away from Karpenisi.
It is said that it was once, at an unknown time, the capital of Evritania, and in the early Christian era perhaps even the seat of a bishop. But it's not certain. The name of the village according to tradition came from the tears shed by its inhabitants, those left after a terrible disaster, probably by the Gauls of Vrene in 279 BC.
The discovery of the early Christian church of Agios Leonidis in 1955 placed Klasi in the frame of the forgotten history of Evritania. Home to heroes of 1821, the famous Yoldasians. An excavation carried out in 1957 revealed a mosaic floor of a temple, a few meters above the left bank of Karpenisiotis and on the northwest edge of today's village. This floor presents very remarkable thematic and epigraphic elements, and belongs to an early Christian royal church built at the end of the 5th century. The mosaic floor was discovered in 1955, after a heavy rain. The church remained unprotected for many years and suffered several disasters. Today it is sheltered with a special cover.
