The Mill House is a 4 bedroom barn conversion, sleeping 9 people, situated 1 mile outside of Hope Cove on a working sheep farm.
We have lovingly restored this barn so that it has a modern feel but still retains its natural charm and personality - plus a few luxuries!
The space
‘The Mill House’ is a newly renovated barn in Galmpton, close to Hope Cove and Salcombe - just a 20 minute amble across the fields to the fishing village of Hope Cove with access to sandy beaches and the South West Coast Path. Formerly part of the old barns on the farm - which included the piggery, stables and grain store - the barn has been lovingly restored and refurbished so that it is modern, but making sure that it still retains its charm - plus a few luxuries!
The barn has oak flooring (with underfloor heating throughout), doors and windows which have all been both sourced and handmade locally.
The barn is reverse level with an entrance on both floors. On the ground floor, there are 4 bedrooms - a large room with a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom, a double room with ensuite bathroom, a twin room and a triple room (with bunk beds and single trundle bed). There is also a family bathroom. The space upstairs is a large open plan kitchen and living room which runs the length of the barn - with a high pitched ceiling and exposed beams. At one end is the large kitchen and dining area, with island, breakfast bar, instant hot water tap and a large traditional aga. The kitchen is complete with a large fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and all the kitchen utensils you’ll need. There is a large dining table with plenty of room to fit the entire family round for group meals. The other end of the space has large comfy sofas and chairs, TV, DVD player and wood burner, for which logs can be ordered ready for your arrival at a small extra cost.
Outside of the barn, there is plenty of parking available and a shared courtyard area directly outside the barn. Free WiFi is available throughout the property.
The Mill House is situated on a working farm where husband, David, and son, Richard, take care of an award-winning pedigree flock.
We are situated in over 300 acres in an area of outstanding natural beauty - some of which borders the coast - and provides great coastal walks and breathtaking views. From the farm, there is direct access to the footpath across the fields which allows you to walk to Hope Cove, from which you could join the South West Coast Path or spend some time relaxing on one of the sandy beaches or visiting the local pubs (that are both situated right next to the water) which serve food and drink all year round.
