Tucked away in Central City this private room has a separate entrance, en suite bathroom and king sized bed. There is a spacious closet, microwave and coffee/tea pot. The room is on the second story of a charming old New Orleans house and has access to a shared back yard with magnolias and banana trees. The house is blocks from the St. Charles streetcar line, Garden District and Mardi Gras parades. COVID 19 precautions detailed below.

The space
This is a private room with a separate entrance at the back of a duplex house. The bathroom is private and was recently remodeled. There is an electric kettle, and microwave but no kitchen access. WiFi, towels, extra linens, blankets, iron/ironing board, hair dryer and a space heater/window unit AC are provided. The room is located upstairs and is separated from the rest of the house by a door that locks on either side. The rest of the unit is occupied and you may be able to hear other people through the door. If we are ever too loud please just let me know. I live next door (on the other side of the duplex) and work from home, so I am generally available to handle any issues.

There are cats on the property. 😽

COVID-19: Your health and safety and that of myself and my family are my top priority. The room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and aired out between bookings. There is contactless check-in with a lockbox and I am happy to send along my COVID-19 cleaning checklist if you’re interested. Most reservations have a very flexible cancellation and refund policy, so if you’re not feeling well please just let me know. I’ve also developed a list of outdoor activities around town if you’re interested.

Where you’ll be

New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

The house is located in a working class New Orleans neighborhood that is a little rough around the edges. My family and I have lived in the house for 8 years and have had no problems with safety walking in the neighborhood or with our vehicles. However, please do your research to make sure Central City is where you would like to stay. We are walking distance to the streetcar line, St. Charles mansions and the Garden District, but Central City is NOT a touristy location. **If you are not comfortable with urban neighborhoods this may not be the spot for you**. Do not expect Bourbon Street or the French Quarter, although the house is only about a 10 minute ride away from those things. The neighborhood has a ton to offer for those looking to get off the beaten path. Sunday second lines go within a block of the house with awesome brass bands, urban cowboys, and marching crews. The Mardi Gras parades are a 3 minute walk and Super Sunday surrounds our block. However, like a lot of New Orleans we are still rebuilding (we continue to work on our house and many folks in the neighborhood are doing the same). Many people have lived on this block their whole lives and are often outside talking to their neighbors on their porches or the sidewalk and kids play in the street. There is sometimes loud music or loud conversations. However, daytime noise normally quiets down by 9PM.
