Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Our Deluxe Wigwam is situated on an old croft on the Westside of the Island of Westray in the Orkney Islands. The croft fronts onto and looks across the bay of Tuquoy and is near a salt marsh which attracts migrating birds. Low tide reveals a large sandy bay and provides a great opportunity for walking and beachcombing

The space
Our heated Wigwam is available for cosy glamping holidays all year round. Comfortably sleeping up to 4 people, the cabin includes
-Open plan sleeping area (sleeps 4) and includes a double bed and a double pull out sofa bed.
-Ensuite bathroom (with toilet, shower and heated towel rail)
-Kitchen / dining area (with hob, fridge, sink, dining table, toaster, pans, camping cutlery, plates and bowls
-Welcome tray (tea, coffee, milk and biscuits)
-Car parking is available on the gravelled area (on the right as you enter the croft.
Longbigging really is an escape and we are trying to keep it that way so there is no TV or WIFI, (the island does have 3G and a mobile signal and WIFI is available in the village if you really need to connect).

Other things to note
Getting to and from Westray (and Longbigging Wigwam).
Westray is connected to the main Orkney island via both the Northlink Ferry (with typically 2/3 sailings per day to and from Kirkwall), and via scheduled Logan air flights (from Orkney Kirkwall airport). Longbigging Wigwam is approx (10mins drive from the ferry station)
Orkney can be reached from the UK mainland by air (flying from Edinburgh, Inverness, Wick, Aberdeen), by Ferry with short car sailings (1-1.5hrs from Gills Bay and Scrabster bay (both near Thurso), Passenger only ferry (in summer from John O'Groats) and longer Car ferry sailing (approx 6 hours from Aberdeen) and bus from Inverness (incl ferry).

Westray is an exciting island to visit and explore with a Castle (Noltland with its elaborate defences), 2 medieval churches, Quoygrew Viking longhouse, Links of Noltand archaeological site (it's Bronze Age sauna was recently featured and a replica trialled on BBC TV ), Westray Heritage Centre and Noup Head Lighthouse & RSPB reserve. There are a number of walking trails on the island, which take in cliffs and beautiful white sandy beaches. From a wildlife perspective there are seals playing in the shallows, an assortment of birds on the shores and cliffs and one of the the highlights of the year (through late spring to late July) the puffins comically going about their nesting business at the Castle Burrian sea stack.
