Over the river and through the woods to The High Lonesome! You will enjoy the river view from the deck. At the end of the 12 acre property is your private river beach. Great for bigger groups! Full kitchen and bath in the main guest house. If over 8 guests, two cabins become available. More than 12? Cabin tents can be set up. Family reunion, company retreats? Lets see if this is the right space for your group! Relax and reconnect and enjoy nature.

The space

The High Lonesome has amazing frontage and access to the East fork of the Lewis River. The river is cold and clear...and breathtaking. There is a hiking trail is right out the back door that follows Copper Creek for a few miles. The High Lonesome is a unique property, as there are 5 beds in the main area plus two cabins up the trail 75 yards that are available for larger groups. We can also pitch cabin tents for extra campers. Have extra family members in an RV? There is space. Lets talk about your event!

Guest access

The guest house has two bedrooms with lodge pole bunks (two double beds, two twin beds) and a queen lodge pole bed in the other room. Bathroom, full kitchen, living room as well. For over 8 guests, about 75 yards from this space are two cabins that sleep an additional 8-12 people. Two futons in Big Cabin and 2 twin beds in the Small Cabin and each cabin has a loft for 2-4. There is also space to pitch tents and park an RV. Each guest over the first 6 is an additional $25 per night fee.
There is a gas grill and two campfire rings, decks. The "Lonesome Owl" Western Town and the pirate ship play deck are available for the kids. We loan out Cornhole, Ladderball, Bocce, and a few other outdoor activities plus movies, books and games.

Interaction with guests

Interaction would include a short tour: trails, beach, and other recreation options.
My house is across the wide driveway from the guest house. Your cell phones won't work up here, so you are welcome to use the house phone as needed. We place a handset on the deck table for you to use. I work out of my basement and will, most likely, be here. I won't bother you, but will be available for questions and a quick property tour. Want to learn some table top games? I can get you started!

Other things to note

This is a gorgeous setting and a dramatic river frontage/beach. You will find it relaxing and refreshing to be here. There is no cell phone coverage or tv channels. Wi Fi is not accessible in the guest house, but it is across the driveway on the deck. Relax and just check in occasionally. Wifi is satellite and on broadband, so it limited to the adults, not kids or teens. Since I work out of my home, I need to be able to access the internet and not have it drained down with video. Our friends who visit with kids/teens appreciate this to get some uninterrupted time with them. There is a dvd player and tv. We have stocked a variety of movies, games and books. At times, summer camp fires are prohibited. We can check with the nearby campground for burn bans.

We absolutely loved the property, the hospitality Lisa showed us, the nature surrounding the cabins, and how organized the experience was for us. Check-in and check-out was very easy. The fire-pit & smores' and homemade cookies were great touches to the trip. We couldn't have asked for a better start to our volleyball season and appreciate all that was done to make our trip a great one!

A stunningly beautiful setting for our small fairytale wedding, complete with forest, romantic little cabin for my husband and I, field and forest of wild flowers, and a stunning river to relax in and by with loved ones. Lisa provided more than any air bnb site I have been too, which was all the better since we had our wedding here. It is a very special place. All her little details and helpfulness were absolutely wonderful, and above and beyond what I would expect from any host. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely choose to have it here. Thank you Lisa, for letting us use your beautiful property for our wedding and family gathering. We absolutely loved it!

Charming, comfortable home for family interaction...the decor is quintessential woodland. Well-equipped kitchen for preparing homemade meals and eating together around the table. Several gathering areas for playing...and Lisa & Brian were great with welcoming us on their porch for guidance with new games and chatting. We did venture to the Columbia River Gorge one day and to the coast another, but our favorite times were while we were just relaxing and enjoying time at the river and trekking to the creek...what a peaceful and beautiful walk. Everything we needed (and more) was available including a washer & dryer, crockpot, and ice cream maker. We made memories and highly recommend High Lonesome as a great place to vacation.

Response from Lisa:
Patty, Thank you for the lovely review! Your family were great guests and we really enjoyed having you up. Parker and Kara did a wonderful job tidying up. My neighbor has asked for a recommendation for help removing and rebuilding a deck and I connected him with Parker. Thank you so much for the patience with Daisy. It helps in her training to see and interact with a lot of people, but if somebody is uncomfortable, I put her away for the weekend. No worries about the toilet handle. Normal wear and tear. I hope the trip back home was easy. Pretty exciting that the next great adventure is a little grandson! Thanks again for the visit!

Lisa was an excellent host - she really wanted us to be comfortable. The setting here is beautiful and the house is set up to be able to enjoy the outdoors. We had several kids in our group, and they loved the play areas that Lisa has made and the games and activities she offered. The house is well set up for guests, with lots of extra touches to make the stay nice.

As a host, I love to share the extreme beauty of The High Lonesome with guests by giving a short tour of the trails and river frontage. You can then explore on your own or ask for more! I love to teach tabletop games and you are welcome to borrow some of the 200+ board games and…
