Located at 11,440' along the "Million Dollar Highway" between Silverton and "Little Switzerland" Ouray, Colorado, the St. Paul Hut is in some of the most beautiful mountain country to be visited or skied in the Rocky Mountains. One mile and 400 ft elevation gain brings you to the rustic St. Paul.

The space
DISCLAIMER:
- When traveling to the hut there is terrain that may be prone to avalanches, avoiding this terrain is your responsibility. You are responsible for knowing the conditions coming/going from the hut. We will not advise how/when to travel in the mountains... that is your responsibility.

Our backcountry hut is available for private rental during both winter and summer seasons. No matter what your experience level, there is something here for everyone! The St. Paul hut is rustic, yet extremely comfortable and situated in the heart of the San Juan Mountains.
****IMPORTANT****
- There is no water at the hut, you must bring your own or melt snow in winter.
- There is no indoor plumbing, which means you will have to use an outhouse as a restroom.

• Sleeps up to six, with two bedrooms
• Heated by wood-burning stove
• Fully-equipped kitchen with propane stove
• Gas lighting and battery lanterns provide plenty of light
• Front-door access to amazing backcountry terrain

The Hut only has an exterior outhouse... with an exceptional view of the mountains

Other things to note
These facilities are user-maintained. Please leave the hut “better than you found it”.
Follow posted instructions for care and maintenance of facility.
Empty all water containers and slop buckets before leaving the hut.
Sweep the floor and wipe down the table and counter.
Ensure kindling is split and the wood box is full for the next guests.
Take out ALL extra food and garbage (they encourage rodents).
Make sure the door is securely closed and latched upon leaving.
No Dogs Allowed.
No Smoking.

My wife and I, with our son and daughter, live and play in Durango, CO. We both feel very fortunate that we live just south of the beautiful San Juan mountains. We love hiking, playing, running, and exploring the San Juan Mountains. As Rickey Gates said, "maybe one mountain range is enough for a lifetime."
