The Tower was created in the late 1800s by an illustrious Englishman, Sir John Temple Leader, in one of the oldest and most important stone quarries belonging to the Medici family. From the same quarry were extracted many important works such as the columns of the Medici chapels, the steps of the Laurenziana library .. all just 5 km from the historic center of Florence.

The space
Among the essential routes of the Fattoria di Maiano is undoubtedly the visit to the Botanic Garden, designed in the nineteenth century by Sir John Temple Leader. Along its paths, you can savor the perfect harmony between the enchanting amenities of the Fiesole hills and the cyclical rhythm of human activities. On the one hand, the silvery expanse of olive trees and the rural landscape dotted with animals. On the other, the shady fronds of the wood, between gnarled trunks, cypresses and tall oaks that overlook the ancient paths of the master stonemasons. It is here, in the Parco Regina della Regina, inaugurated by Queen Victoria herself, that lies the Laghetto delle Colonne, set in a suggestive quarry of pietra serena. A place of extraordinary charm, mindful of the stories that have passed through it.

Guest access
The Tower is divided into 4 floors. Ground floor with entrance and kitchen, 1st floor with living room, 2nd floor with double bedroom and bathroom 3rd floor relaxation room with turkish bath. Guests have access to all floors. The stairs that connect the floors are in stone, which is about 80 cm wide.

Other things to note
You can not say that you have known a Farm until you get into the heart of its activities. At Fattoria di Maiano you can touch the industriousness and dedication that lie behind its products. From the organic vegetable garden to the fascinating guided tour of the Frantoio through the cultivation and pressing of the olives, to obtain the precious extra-virgin Laudemio oil. An instructive and stimulating way to foretaste the delights of the Lo Spaccio Restaurant or taste the products available in the shop. Neighbourhood highlights

At the Fattoria di Maiano the enchantment of Nature meets the charm of centuries of history. A few kilometers from the heart of Florence, you can immerse yourself in the lush quiet of the famous Fiesole hills. Here the sweetness of the wooded slopes alternates with the steep profile of the caves of Maiano, once a precious mining basin. From these quarries the stonemason masters obtained the sandstone with which they built the Florentine buildings and dwellings. Today the Fattoria di Maiano preserves intact its ancient natural beauty, supported by afforestation and careful renovation. To the richness of the landscape heritage are added the fruits of the farm, the beautiful olive groves and the variety of farmed animals. While the echoes of the historical past still resonate between the imposing quarries and the majestic stalks of the ancient trees.
