This location was perfect! Just steps to one of he best beaches I have ever seen, with sea turtles and snorkeling right off shore. It was close to several great places to eat on the beach and a 15 minute walk to more restaurants and shopping in Bridgetown. The accommodation was just as advertised with everything we needed. Highly recommended!

Right on the beach, short walk to either the Hilton or Bridgetown, car drive to good restaurants but local food easily available.

Jens was a wonderful host and the place is certainly worth way more than what we paid. Two bedrooms with private in-suite bathrooms w/showers. The heavy handmade custom doors make you feel like you are staying in newly renovated sugar mill from the 1700's! There is a great open kitchen dining and sitting area that opens up to a beautiful patio with bright pink bougainvillea. It's absolutely heavenly.... I felt guilty that this place should have been occupied by honeymooners, not two women on business! The curved coastline provides one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.... a quiet area with a gentle current (unlike many other coastal vacation spots) quiet, shallow grade with clear turquoise water. You can see the colorful fish and turtles that come each day to greet the tourist boats. It's a great place to bring the kids. Jens provided us with every necessity from a fully stocked kitchen (from our list) to snorkel equipment, beach chairs, umbrella and noodles. Thanks so much to every patient Bajan (hundreds of them) who (thank God) quickly realized that any car with the windshield wipers on is just another crazy American tourist. In any other Caribbean island I would have been killed in a car accident... Bajan's patiently look after their tourists with kindness and understanding! The island has a "tradition" of not numbering buildings on the main road! Finding anything can be a challenge... here's what we quickly learned. A freshly painted building is likely serving great food and cocktails. People and businesses invest in the "waterside" of the building, not the street side. This island still relies on "cash" over credit cards. If you want to purchase something truly Bajan... bring cash. It's an insult to ask for a discount, the artisans on the island have pride and are underpricing their work! If you buy three... instead of one, however you can get a great deal. My only complaint... is that I wish they would drive on the right! I look forward to returning to the island annually to help talented Bajan artists build their businesses! ---There is so much talent on the island.

This was a simply an outstanding experience! Jens called before we left the States, offering to pick up provisions for our arrival, which were waiting for us when we arrived. He even arranged to have a taxi pick us up from the airport. We had a three hour plane delay in Miami, and Jens could not have been more understanding. As lovely as the pictures are, they still do not do the apartment and view justice. It is centrally located in Carlisle Bay, just a ten - fifteen minute walk to Bridgetown or the historic Garrison district, and bus stops next to and across from the apartment on Bay Street. We love to experience the local scene and were delighted to discover that Browne's Beach is where the locals go. Jens gave us a tour of the apartment and tips on where to eat in the area and places to visit. He even arranged for a cleaning lady to come twice during our ten day stay. Jens graciously allowed us to borrow beach chairs, umbrellas and snorkeling equipment and we swam with the turtles right out front of the apartment. I had anticipated having to wash our clothes in the sink during our visit, but there is also a washer and dryer available. Coffee in the am and cocktails in the evening in the lovely garden was simply heaven. We even got to know some Bajans during our morning swims. While we could have stayed in the apartment and at the beach the whole trip, we decided to hire a car and explore the island. Again, the location of the apartment and a good pre-programmed GPS really enhanced the trip. We parked it in the community parking lot, next to the building. One thing that visitors should prepared for, not only with the apartment, but with the island - natural air conditioning. The apartment has strong air conditioning in both bedrooms, but not in the living room and kitchen. Ceiling and portable fans in these rooms help out the natural breeze a great deal, but it is not cold by any stretch. That is the case all over the island, as A/C and electricity is expensive. Even many fine restaurants we visited did not have A/C, so be prepared. The other thing that I will mention is the gathering of locals on Sunday night during our stay along Browne beach. I woke up for a drink of water around 12:00am and could hear the steady beat of a base. I was so exhausted that I went right back to sleep. The best part of the stay, without question, was the opportunity to visit with Jens. He is so charming, witty and incredibly gracious. We really felt that if we had any problems, questions or concerns, he was available anytime of day or night. This was our first experience with Airbnb and it was a dream because of Jens. We look forward to returning soon.

My dad and I stayed at The Brick House while in Barbados for the cricket (as well as several days following to live a bit of the beach life, exploring and sightseeing) and we loved it. It was spot on for us. The location was perfect. The beach and sea here is amazing and right at the bottom of the garden with all the attractions others have mentioned elsewhere such as reefs, wrecks and turtles. It's not too near any of the big resorts so the beach is pretty quiet with friendly locals around. Bridgetown is a nice 15-20 minute walk along the beach while there are VERY regular ZR buses ($1 USD per trip anywhere) running just outside of the house to take you to Bridgetown (10 mins) or down to Oistins and any of the spots along the south coast in between (e.g. St. Lawrence Gap, Hastings, Rockley). The apartment itself is great and has everything you need for a self-catering holiday (complete with eskie cooler) plus a lot of beach equipment such as sun loungers, noodles and beach umbrella too. It has all the conveniences you'd expect at a hotel - e.g. air con in the bedrooms, excellent internet connection, en suite shower rooms with hot water, towels, beach towels etc. As well as the obvious attractions of the beach etc., One thing we particularly enjoyed about the apartment was sitting out on the little shady, cool patio terrace in the mornings having our breakfast watching the runners along the beach taking in the wildlife and plants in the garden before heading into the sea for a morning dip. The owner, Jens, was there while we were there to provide advice/the benefit of his local knowledge and answer any questions, which was useful. There's a regular cleaner and gardener too. The place was immaculate and the pictures barely do it justice. If you want a relaxing beach holiday in a paradise location without all the other tourists on top of you while remaining close enough to all the amenities of the south coast, then you couldn't do better than here. It's the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.

The apartment is simply beautiful! The location is perfect for access to the beach. It is comfortable, SECURE, and your every need catered for. The kitchen has everything you need. Including extras I didn't expect. A maid, gardener, and beach equipment are all provided. The host Jens and his staff, are extremely friendly and accommodating. Jens is extremely knowledgeable of the local area and is happy to introduce you to anyone he thinks might help increase the enjoyment of your visit. Despite a slight confusion over the security deposit at the beginning of the holiday, that was quickly addressed. It was great! A few things I did not factor in, that are beyond control of the host, is simply the location next to a main road, there is a lot of traffic noise. But the sound of the ocean soon helps you forget that. Plus you are in Barbados, why are you sitting indoors!? Remember being next to the main road has the advantage of easy access to transport! Another is solar heated water. On a cloudy day you will not get a hot shower in the apartment, you have to use the outside washroom facilities. They are the only draw backs I can see. Brownes beach is a lovely quite beach, with few tourists (no hotels nearby) and many very friendly locals. A great beach for exercising, and relaxing. Want to join in a game of paddleball, just ask! The area of Bay street the apartment is located on is not crowded and very quite. However it is a short walk from Bridgetown, convenience stores, and a short bus/van trip to Hastings, with bars and restaurants. In short, I highly recommend the Brick house, and will return!

What can I say! Beautiful place all brand new, right on a magnificent beach. Snorkel with the turtles and a shipwreck literally 50 metres from your door. Jens is like dealing with a member of your family, he met us at the airport, got back to the apartment and the fridge was stocked with wine, juice, milk etc. He then got us settled in and took me to the supermarket to stock up on provisions. I could go on but keeping it short and sweet. Don't hesitate to book this place if its free!
