Tregaron is the smallest town in Ceredigion, nestled at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains. It is one of the few remote areas left in southern Britain. Tregaron is surrounded by open wilderness making the Honey Pot the perfect base to explore unspoilt landscape by foot, bike or road. This area is perfect for river, forest and coastal walks, cycling, motorbiking, birdspotting, dog walking, fishing, golfing and just relaxing.
Although there are only few roads across the mountains they are seen as some of the most scenic routes in Britain. The mountain road from Tregaron takes you to lakes, reservoirs, woodland, river walks, a bird sanctuary, and has incredible views of the hills and mountains. Tregaron is also less than 30 minutes from the beautiful Ceredigion heritage coastline where dolphins are spotted. New Quay and Aberaeron are favourite seaside towns to visit with lovely gift shops, cafes, pubs and of course fish and chips.
Tregaron is steeped in history and famous as a gathering place for the drovers who, before rail transport, herded large numbers of cattle, sheep and even geese hundreds of miles to the markets of south-east England. The Honey Pot is near to one of the oldest drovers inn in the town - which we saved from becoming completely derelict and have renovated into a comfortable home.
Traditional horse trotting and carriage racing is held in Tregaron. It is also the home of the Welsh Gold Centre, selling hand crafted Celtic inspired jewellery. Cors Caron, a popular national nature reserve is five minutes by car, perfect for bird watchers, and dog walkers. There are many attractions less than half an hour drive away, including Llyn Brianne reservoir, the Teifi lakes, the beautiful Hafod with stunning walks and waterfalls along the river through the grounds of the estate. Devils Bridge, with its stunning waterfall and rain forest like walks. Whether you want wilderness or heritage coast, you will be spoilt for choice.
Tregaron was named in the Guardian's top ten places to visit. West Wales is becoming more and more popular as a holiday destination, as people see the area as safe and unspoilt.
We moved here from the Midlands and we fell in love with the place. The locals are so friendly and believe that once you come to Tregaron you never want to leave which is true of us and hopefully you!

Guest access
We will welcome you on arrival respecting social distance, with the key sanitised, in the front door. The cottage is easy to access from the main road and has its own front and back patio door, private lockable garage and further parking outside your front door. It is very quiet and private. To the rear, you have your own secure private fenced garden, with large lawn - with badminton set, bird baths, mature borders and trees. There are a few steps with rail, up to the raised lawn. One dog is welcome, and you can relax knowing it can't wander out of the garden. There is also a table and chairs. If you want to purchase a disposable bbq you are welcome to stack it on some big stones - lots at the back of the garden, but please light it away from the cottage.
We can also offer extra storage for bikes etc. in our leak proof barn.

Other things to note
We have two dogs: Layla - a lemon cocker spaniel, a timid rescue dog, and Alice - a yappy miniature red daschund, also a rescue dog. We are also looking after my parents' dog, Maggie, an old jack russell, who would love to be eating all the time if you let her!

Although the smallest town in Ceredigionshire, Tregaron has a big heart. The locals are so friendly, and very welcoming. The town has everything you need within two roads. Up the road from us there are two local stores where you can get fresh bread and cakes, freshly made sandwiches and hot snacks, as well as all other groceries, fruit and vegetables you need. There is a garage should you need one. CCF sells bags of wood.
Two minutes walk down the hill there is a chinese take away, chippy, gift shop, Spar, open 7am-11pm with cash dispenser and post office, pet friendly pub/restaurant, The Talbot, serving award winning food, Rhiannon's famous gold centre with gift shop and cafe, craft gift centre, pizza takeaway, GP, chemist, two butchers and the kite centre and museum. There is also a petrol station and church. There is a cafe called the Hungry Goose, down the road from the chippy. They do cooked breakfasts, and lunches at good prices (closed thurs). There is the Riverside Cafe going out to Lampeter.
There is a circular walk up the hill from the town, dog friendly, which will give you a stunning panoramic view overlooking the whole area. You will see The Honey Pot behind the church steeple. There is a local walking guide for you.
Five minutes by car is Cors Caron nature reserve boasting three raised bogs - areas of deep peat that have built up over the last 12,000 years. There is a complex and unique mix of habitats including reed bed, wet grassland, rivers, streams, ponds and woodland making the reserve a fantastic place for wildlife. The reserve has an excellent bird hide for birdwatchers too. Lots of parking, wheelchair and dog friendly.
You will see from the photos the various stunning places to visit. We can provide you with directions to places and give tips for parking, to make it easier for you. There are lots of leaflets and maps to help you decide where to go.

I love living in Tregaron. I moved here from the Midlands with my husband Andy in June 2016. We are always exploring and have only skimmed the surface of this beautiful area. When the sun shines we head for one of our favourite beaches, usually followed by a bag of chips and a beer! If we are feeling energetic, we put on our walking boots and head to the hills and lakes with the dogs. The scenery is spectacular and we are so lucky to live here. We spend the majority of our time working on our house, one of the oldest in Tregaron. We have some amazing before and after photos - one day I might just get to put them in an album.... This year our aim is to pack the dogs and the camping gear in the back of the Kangoo and explore - can't wait!
