Very pleasant, traditional accommodations in the most tranquil of villages providing perfect base for exploration of Normandy. The 100 rings at 7:00am from the church bell was a quirky yet perfect alarm clock. Anne and her family were very pleasant once we met later than expected after our Satnav took us elsewhere. They very kindly lent us some bikes as well as provide a bbq for our use one evening. Whist internet is stated as provided, it didn't work whilst we were there which made planning our days/routes difficult, but didn't detract from our stay. All in all, would happily stay again and recommend this beautiful part of Normandy.

The cottage is incredible. Located in a quaint village, it is the perfect immersive experience for travelling to small town France. The home is spacious and packs a lot of character. Loved this place!

This is the place to visit if coming to the Normandy area near Sainte-Mere-Eglise to visit D-Day sights. The village Anne lives in is picturesque with the beautiful church and town hall. There are about 100 people in this little village. Anne's home was exactly what you envisioned. The downstairs has a bathroom, kitchen and living room area with some walls. Upstairs is a single bedroom with a queen sized bed, toilet and shower. We will be staying here when we return.

We've spent wonderful vacation at Anne's home. Nous vous remercions - ce fut un merveilleux repos:) Anne is the perfect host, pleasant friendly and discreet. The site is absolutely perfect - beautiful and spacious, but the peace and quiet are the most remarkable there. You could also pleasantly relax in the beautiful garden overlooking the church and village. The nice and small town is a very good starting point to explore Normandy. Close to the sea with its amazing ebb and flow. Lots of shells, oysters, clams and all the treasures of the sea. All the seafood you can also taste in nearby towns - Norman cuisine is excellent, but it's obvious:) Landscapes are beautifully maintained and care for the preservation of cultural and architectural harmony. The rich history, from the Middle Ages to the Second World War, which is present in a number of monuments at the end... Well, I would like to thank Anne for these wonderful eight days which we had in Normandy. I hope that we would go there again.

Very lovely cottage, situated in a very small village. The cottage is as described and was a nice place to stay. Anne was welcoming and helpful. We had a great time. The only thing to be aware of, is that there are no shops or anything in this village. To get food you need to drive. Not a problem, just good too know!

This trip was our first Airbnb experience, and Anne's guest house in St-Martin-de-Varreville was the second place on our trip. Anne was very communicative and we were able to arrange our arrival smoothly. Anne was very apologetic about the fact that she did not speak any English, but we tried to convince her with our non-existent French that it was not her responsibility to speak English. On the contrary, we were the ones unable to speak the local language. In the end, we made out just fine. Anne's guest house is much nicer than described in the Airbnb listing. Her description is very understated. It is very spacious, and consists of a two-storey stone house, unattached from her main house, which is adjacent. Everything inside was brand new, and it was apparent that the whole house had recently been renovated with no expenses spared for the quality of the fixtures, flooring materials, windows, skylights, kitchen appliances and cabinets, decorations and paint. The house was filled with lovely antique furniture, including a baby's crib, making it a perfect spot for a young family. The back door exits to a beautiful garden (shown in the main photo with the church steeple on the left). The small town is extremely quaint, with several working farms and a beautiful church. It is located about a mile inland from Utah Beach, but not on the main road to the historic beach, so there was essentially no traffic except us. You could see the ocean from the yard when it was clear enough. The lovely church and interesting cemetery provide a built-in wake-up call at 7AM every morning when the real bell is rung by hand, announcing morning Mass. The whole setting is so bucolic that it is hard to imagine that almost 72 years to the day (6 June 1944), US soldiers made their way up from Utah Beach, many coming through this town, meeting up with paratroopers from the US 101st Airborn Infantry Division, and on to St Mère Église.
