About this listing
Our loft is a cool, spacious place of modern architecture in one of the old mansions of Boulevard Artigas, one of Montevideo's main avenues. It is located close to the University of Architecture, not far from the Rodo Park and the centric Golf Club.
The loft combines modern comfort with turn of the century charm and offers generous space. It is a transformed attic from an old mansion at the Boulevard Artigas, one of the main avenues in Montevideo. My wife and me designed it for us two to stay there, and ended up staying over vacation periods with our three children (five in total) and, ...nobody wanted to leave. Later a young celebrity couple rented it from us while my family and me were living in Brazil and later in Europe. The couple did not want to move out any more, even after they got their first child.
Once you are there, you don't want to leave, this has been confirmed by journalists that published the space in a regional architectural magazine.
Other than the comfortably equipped loft with its two balconies, you will have access to a parking space in case you require it for a (rental) car.
Interaction with guests
The loft is usually rented when I am travelling, that is why I have to point to my sister Benita, she is mostly around and in charge. So any question, comment, or help you need, you can contact her.
The Loft is the attic of a mansion located at the magnificient Boulevard Artigas. The neighborhood is very diverse, it includes the University of Architecture, embassies, old residences but also apartment buildings and small businesses. In walking distance there are various parks including the Parque Rodo, and not far is also the centric Golf Club and both limit to the River Plate shoring nice beaches along the coast, ideal for walking, biking or jogging. In the close vicinity of the loft you can also find restaurants and pubs and not too far away you have the large shopping center Punta Carretas.
The loft is located on and close to various important avenues (Bvar. Artigas, Bvar. España, Avda. Brasil, and Avda. 18 de Julio) that all offer public transportation with bus lines into all the directions of the city. That is the only important means of public transport other than the taxi. Both, taxis as well as buses, are well affordable, but don't any more offer the standards used to in Europe - the times when all taxis in Uruguay used to be Mercedes Benz are long gone. The public transport you have to pay in local currency and you shall be prepared and have sufficient change. Other than that you can contract remise/limo service or rent cars, nevertheless these are usually slightly more expensive than what you might be used in the US or Europe.
Other things to note
Please be aware that Boulevard Artigas is splendid, but can at times be noisy (one of my many guests reminded me recently). I should also mention that you can get with a lift to the second floor, but to get to the third floor where the loft is, you shall take a stair.
