It's like a small village in the centre of London. Bloomsbury...home of Virginia Woolf, Charles Dickens and WIlliam Morris. Cosy cafes and restaurants. A clean, safe, tidy neighbourhood with easy access to most of London's central museums and fun places.
I encourage people to walk or use the buses as you can then get an idea of the layout of Central London. It only takes twenty minutes to walk to Leicester square from here. Get a free central London bus map from any tube station. It will explain the routes and is easy to follow.

Stayed with Joanne for a couple of nights whilst on a work trip to London. I was made very welcome and Joanne is very accommodating with arrival and departure times. A lovely comfortable base in the middle of London. Will definitely be back.
Joanne communicated with me right away and provided good directions to her home. She kindly allowed me to come directly to her flat upon arrival in London so I could store my luggage, even though it was earlier than the checkin time. The flat is located in a very nice neighborhood of London with lots of literary connections that Joanne pointed out to me when she gave me a little tour. She also suggested restaurants and provided navigation tips. The room looks exactly like the photo. I felt very comfortable and safe. Joanne cooked vegetarian breakfasts for me and both she and her son were very personable. I enjoyed her art work and purchased some lovely pieces. I would gladly stay with Joanne and her son Ben again.
Joanne And his son benjamin are very nice persons. We wanted to see many thinks and Joanne show us many beautiful places.the room is clean and the appartment is Just near centre of london. It was a very nice experience,my daughter is still in love with london.thanks a lot
Joanne was a welcoming and gracious host. She was quite communicative prior to my arriving, and very helpful in making suggestions. The (email hidden)tween Russell Square and Bloomsbury Square, is EXCELLENT. Walking distance to Covent Garden, West End, Soho, Piccadilly Circus, and an easy walk to both Russell Square and Holborn train stations. Her flat is quite small...two bedrooms (one of which was the one that i stayed in), her bedroom, a kitchen and bathroom. No family room to relax and watch a bit of t.v. It did not bother me as i was out of the flat other than to sleep, but would have been helpful to know as it did take me by surprise. Other than that, the bed was terrific and comfy, the room was fine and I was able to hang my clothes. She presented me with a toiletry kit as a welcome, a hair dryer, and two adapters for my computer, cell phone, etc. She always offered me breakfast (which I declined as I enjoyed eating ever meal out).
Joanna was a great host. We arrived late, directly from the airport on our first night and she was kind enough to make us a little dinner since the local restaurants had closed. We were so grateful to also receive breakfast both mornings.
Bed was comfy, Shower was good, room was as small as we expected based on the location
My friend and I really love Joanne's place! This is the first airbnb experience and I would say everything is perfect!
The location is comfortable for visitors, particularly those who want to go to British Museum every day, lol. Underground is around 5 minutes walk, even for me, who always walk slowly...
We had very nice talk with Joanne and her lovely son (like his accent, haha) . The two bunnies are "big", but cute. If you ask me the most impressed part, I would say the tasty breakfast and the relaxed style living there are the highlight.
I would definitely live there again if I visit London then.
We enjoyed staying at Joanne's as it was clean, orderly and quiet. We think it may have been a little tight with only one bath available in the morning for 4 people in the flat. But for our occasion it worked out perfectly. An extra treat to admire Joanne's colorful artwork! We had to be punctual and be on site by 8.45 AM at our conference venue, SOAS, and from Joanne's it was a most pleasant, quick walk. Thank you!
The neighborhood is very bright and friendly, plenty of nice shops and restaurants and very close to city tube and bus stations.

About the Host, Joanne
We offer a room with breakfast included. We enjoy meeting people from around the world and helping them get the best out of their time in London by pointing out good restaurants, cultural events, and helping with logistics and itineraries if needed.
I'm an artist working in hand-painted chinaware, water colour, and silkscreen. Former university lecturer in English and Art, I have lived in Chicago, Naples, and Seoul. My son who is eleven is into Lego spaceships, mine craft, and Dr. Who.
Favourite parts of London which I recommend: Walking along the Southbank, the boating lake and gardens of Regents Park, fine food at Burough Market, the teas, jams, and biscuits at Fortnum and Mason, the long boats on Regents Canal, Bloomsbury, Covent Garden's unique boutiques, bric a brac and international cuisine at Brick Lane Market on Sundays, Kingsland Road for trendy bars, cafes, and Vietnamese noodles, Victoria and Albert museum, South Kensington, Hampstead Heath --Kenwood House for scones and tea, the river walk at Richmond, Hampton Court Palace and Hoxton.
