Great location

Guests who stayed here in the past year loved the location.
Centrally located on Tybee's south end. Only steps from beach, grocery store, back river water sports, fishing pier, main drag and pier/pavilion. Fantastic accessibility. Wide drive. No steps to inside. Huge 1 bedroom, more like studio apt. King bed, lots of surround space, table & chairs, day bed, lounge chairs & full kitchenette. New & clean. Ceramic tiles throughout. Garden view from windows & doors. Spacious bathroom. Large shower w/bench. Ideal for mobility challenged. 420 & LGBTQ friendly.

The space
Park right outside the private entrance. Everything on ground level - no steps!

Extra-large, spacious bedroom with kitchenette (fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker & tea pot), lots of drawer and hanger space, WiFi, cable TV, comfy seating plus table & chairs.

Plus, the private entrance is through a screened porch with lounge chairs so morning sunshine and cool evenings can be enjoyed in privacy facing the garden.

Small fenced side yard can be used for personal or rental bikes, but pets should not be left unattended. Lots of outdoor chairs for relaxing in sun or shade.

Can sleep up to 4 adults - HOWEVER, please inquire before booking as I want to ensure that guests understand the sleeping arrangements. (1) The space is best suited to two people or a family with two children under 20 and less than 250 pounds. (2) For those who don't mind less privacy and smaller, less formal/comfortable sleeping arrangements, the space might accommodate two couples or a small group of younger adults. The daybed is very comfortable and there is a folding cot that works equally well.

Pet friendly - HOWEVER, you must inquire first as not all pets are acceptable. See house rules for bringing a pet.

Guest access
Enjoy your private screened porch and outdoor table with an umbrella and chairs. There is a charcoal grill for your use. Just remember to bring charcoal. Parking is in front and there are no steps to worry about.

Owners and guests have separate tables/chairs in front of the house. Other seating is shared..
The backyard is exclusively for owners.

Other things to note
There are fans in all rooms as well as a portable fan and dehumidifier. A window A/C unit is in place during hotter months. Leaving doors open to the private hallway will help regulate the temperatures, especially in the bedroom.

We have both a dog (Jodie is very friendly although she has to alert me to your presence by barking) and two cats (the male, Blaze, has grey stripes on top and lots of white on his stomach, chest and legs; his sister, Spitz, has brown spots with only a little white on her feet and chest and she is the one that will be friendlier if you let her come to you).

Also, I keep chickens in the back and am happy to let guests visit with them if they wish. Please let me know of your interest so that we can arrange for that to happen.

Please inquire if you wish to bring a pet; I am definitely open to pets, but with some restrictions. Remember, NO PETS on the beach!

Also, NO GLASS on the beach!

Neighbourhood highlights

We live in a very friendly residential neighborhood, the city noise ordinance is 10pm until 8am.

Tybee is very bike and walk friendly. There are a number of bike paths to allow access to the entire island without having to ride on the main streets. There are a few other AirBnBs on our block, and we love the variety of guests that come through.

We are walking distance to nearly everything - the beach and the back river beach, restaurants, the main streets, place to put in kayaks and paddleboards.

Where I went to school: Every school I've gone to has shaped me
My work: A friend to everyone
When I was younger, I travelled to many places in the world - backpacking and hiking most of the time. I enjoyed learning about other cultures and ways of life. People all have interesting things in their lives. I haven't been to China or Australia and one day I hope to see them, although I think, unfortunately, that my hiking days are over. Now instead of travelling, I am enjoying all the things that can be enjoyed by staying in one place. I live on Tybee Island and love life here for many, many reasons. Who wouldn't enjoy being able to see the sunrise over the ocean or the sunset over the marsh? Plus I can live most of my life here by walking or biking (with my dog) and that allows me to constantly meet new people out in their yards or in public spaces. I get to know lots of permanent residents as well as a constant stream of those visiting Tybee. I have a great vegetable garden and I love cooking. I keep chickens and enjoy their fresh eggs as well as their silly antics. I believe whole-heartedly in recycling so am always collecting items that would be sent to landfill and repurposing them to provide interest and beauty in my yard. My current project is to build a pond with recycled materials. And I'm now hosting AirBnB guests and think that it will add a whole new dimension to my life. If I can't go out there, at least I'll still meet people who will bring the world into my life. I love reading and always enjoy sharing reading experiences with others. Recently I read A Man Called Ove (and then of course say the film) and loved it. Books and movies help us to understand other people better by giving us insight into lives very different from our own. And of course I like just about all kinds of music. All depends on my mood what you might hear me listening too. I look forward to sharing with others both as an AirBnB guest and as a host.
