Great location
95% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
KING BED with forest views! On forest edge & just 6 minutes drive from spectacular coastline & beaches. Spacious (+11m long), super comfy, self contained, private, peaceful, functional & memorable. The “Lucky Duck” is a uniquely & stylishly hand renovated 1977 Mercedes school bus. Free Wifi. Sleeping, Kitchen (electric hot water), lounge area + adjacent outdoor annex area (private hot shower / in-ground bath overlooking the forest, gas burners, BBQ, shade). Breakfast provisions. Telstra mobile.

The space
Toilet: Hand crafted artisan toilet is 20m walk... this is not shared with the property owners/hosts but may be shared with up to 2 other guests in our other Air Bnb listing (a little hut located about 100m away).
Wifi: Free WiFi that is generally good during the day (5-15 Mbs) and a bit slower at night or peak periods. It's NBN fibre to the node plan, so we can never guarantee consistent speeds 100% of the time - because the NBN is, well y'know... its the NBN!
Mobile: Telstra/Aldi/Boost decent 2-4 bars via our on site antenna/signal booster/re-transmitter. Vodaphone & Optus - walk 50m to our highpoint (just next to our workshop/shed) for 1 bar and sms messages.
Spacious: At 11.2m long, 2.4m wide and with 2.2m ceilings she's twice the size of a big caravan and with heaps of widows and light. The first thing most people comment on is how much room there is inside.
Shower / Bath: Private, outdoor, covered, inground hot Bath / Shower that overlooks the forest and lets you gaze up at the sky... under the annex, right next to the bus.
Parking: We have ample off street car parking in a safe, quiet, virtually zero crime area on a quiet cul de sac. The car park is a 70m walk from the bus.
Cooling (summer): 2 x Fans (No Air Con) and lots of windows. Chilled water mist bottle in the fridge. A cool shower or bath, in the shade and daydreaming on the forest is also a treat!
Heating (winter): 240v electric heater. (very rarely needed in this ideal climate) + electric blanket.
King Size Bed: Oh yeah.... With an two zone electric blanket to stay toasty warm in winter.
Breakfast: Fresh eggs, Bacon, Tea, Coffee, Jam, Bread, Cereal, Milk.
Kitchenette: microwave, toaster, kettle, porcelain wash basin with hot water.
BBQ / Gas Cooking: Your own covered area with BBQ, dual gas burner and electric wok.
Drinking Water: Water is rain water from our 90,000 litre tank and is safe and pleasant to drink..
Fridge: 300L fridge/freezer.
Audio: Wireless bluetooth / AUX speaker for your audio.
Power: Fully wired for 240v + 12V car sockets (great for an Engel) and USB charging ports... all provided from our eco-friendly 8kw grid connected on site solar system!
Decor: Hand crafted, earthy, coastal feel with a touch of retro and 70s surf style.... paying tribute her lovley curves, her make and year of manufacture (1977 Mercedes) and the coastal forest location.
Relax: Peace, privacy and seclusion. Located 60+m from any other dwellings and overlooking the forest. No highway traffic noise :) Lots of birds and the sounds of nature!
Laundry: On request, we'll do a big load (up to 11kg) of washing for guests staying 3 nights or more (we'll wash and then line dry).

The renovation of this bus from Bathurst School bus and Woolongong tourist bus into the "Lucky Duck" is complete and it's time to share her unique character and style. So we hope you come, stay, experience, relax, enjoy and remember!
We've also tried to reuse and recycle. For example the large outdoor covered annex structure has also been created with turpentine and flooded gum (milled from our own forest), covered with a mainsail from a yacht providing much shade (and 95% water proof). The the bus is powered with our on-site solar panels and we're grid connected . Your yummy eggs and fresh herbs come from our happy chickens and garden.

Chill under the annex, take a stroll around the forest, say hello to a chicken or head out to explore the nearby beaches and towns to catch a wave, have a fish, grab a cold beer or just soak in a lovely beachside sunrise or sunset.

Surrounded by our 3 acres of beautiful Australian rainforest - birds are everywhere (lorikeets, king parrots, kookaburras, galas, cockatoos, robins and more), wallabies visit, lizards pass by, along with all the other things the Aussie bush has to offer (you may see some things you have not before!)

A great place for:
- Couples wanting a unique romantic experience
- Travelling companions
- Workers bored of hotel rooms and looking for something different
- Sightseeing (national parks, beaches and coastline, cool little towns etc)
- Beaches and swimming
- Nature Lovers
- Birdwatchers
- 4WDers (easy access to Valla beaches)
- Surfers
- Fishing
- Peace and quiet
- Forest views

Guest access
Fresh yummy eggs from our resident chickens!
Subject to seasonal availablity - Fresh Basil, Parsely, other herbs, cherry tomatoes, lemons, limes, oranges etc.
Feel free to walk around 2 acres of forest (with closed shoes and a hat!).

Other things to note
No Air Con: During the day it sometimes gets hot and a little humid here (in sub tropical NSW). So, if you're looking to stay inside during hot sunny days in an air conditioned room that is degrees below the outside temperature then a hotel room probably suits you better. The fans and windows in the bus mean it will be the same as outside, and under the big annex is shady and cool.
Summer Symphony Orchestra: It's the real Aussie bush with real Aussie "Cicadas". These are harmless little creatures, but in December and early January during the daytime they come out to sing for a mate.... and it can get pretty loud! They do stop when it rains and during the night.
Fireflies: If you are lucky enough to be visiting in late August/early September you might get to experience the amazing sight of our forest full of native "fire-flies". Rare, trippy, very cool!
Music: You can play music as loud as the provided wireless bluetooth speaker that is provided will go.
Respect: A lot of work has gone into creating this offering so please look after her. All items are inventoried upon checkout and missing items will be charged to the guest – we’re sure you are honest and good people so this won’t be an issue!

Location

Valla, New South Wales, Australia

- Perfect half way stop between Sydney and Byron / Gold Coast / Brisbane.
- Valla Beach (just 6 mins drive) is a quintessential friendly and quiet little Aussie beach town. It has a pub, a gread licenced cafe/restaurant, another great breakfast/lunch cafe and coffee shop, a pharmacy, a butcher. Of course there is the beautiful and relatively uncrowded and expansive beaches (including that sublime natural rockpool swimming hole and even some caves).
- We're just 4 minutes drive off the M1 Highway (no highway traffic noise!)
- Our local north central NSW coastline from Coffs to Scotts Head is spectacular and relatively uncrowded.
- The local towns (Bellingen, Dorrigo, Urunga, Sawtell, Nambucca Heads, Scotts Head, Macksville, Bowraville) are great for sightseeing and day trips.
- Plenty of National parks and bush walking options exist around Dorrigo.
- 9 minutes drive from the new 24 hr BP service station with fuel, take away food, snacks, milk and bread etc
- 15 minutes drive from Nambucca Heads (south), Urunga (north)
- 20 minutes from great coastal lookouts and awesome cafes and restaurants in Sawtell.
- 25 minutes from the fun and very cool Bellingen (think Byron Bay 20 years ago before it got a bit too commercial and very crowded).
- 20 minutes from Scotts Head and Grassy Head (awesome, easy and relatively uncrowded surf. Peeling right hand point breaks.)
- 30 minutes drive from Coffs Harbour (airport and shopping, dining and entertainment options)
- World class surfing and fishing abounds, and 4WD access to the beach at Valla is simple.
- Local beaches have BBQ areas, shower blocks, great swimming areas, and life saving services during peak periods.
- If you're coming for a local event such as SWIFF, the Bello Winter music festival etc and want transport so you can party, then talk to us and for a reasonable fee we can try to work something out.

We're chilled out, down to earth, respectful, mature, happy souls. We love the beach, surfing, cooking, gardening, good food wine and music, native wildlife, building and creating stuff, and meeting people for a chat. Environmentally conscious and interested in permaculture. We speak English, Simon speaks a little Spanish, Aurelie is a French national fluent in French (of course!). Happy guests make for happy hosts :)
