The space

The Traveler’s House is a 1050 square-foot, 2-story brick “shotgun row house” built in 1890, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and original heart pine floors.

Completely renovated in 2011, this warm, cozy house has been furnished to provide a relaxing and attractive oasis to guests, with all the comforts of home.

The Traveler’s House is tastefully decorated with an eclectic assortment of international artifacts, photographs, paintings, music and books.

The Traveler’s House has beds for 4 and an airbed can be provided for an additional guest.

There is plenty of on-street parking and a private backyard with large trees and porch seating.

The Traveler's House is just a short walk (7 minutes, 6/10 mi.) from Frederick's town center. Convenient to shops, theatres, fine restaurants, museums, galleries and parks.

Both bedrooms have Sleep Number/Select Comfort beds (1 Q, 1 T plus 1 Trundle) with designer linens. Please note that the access to the house's only bathroom is through that bedroom, so it works best for children.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and granite countertops. There are 2 HDTV's - one in the living room and one in the back (twin) bedroom, which can double as an office for longer stays.

Ideal accommodations for wedding parties, reunions, romantic escapes, family vacations, corporate stays, girlfriends' weekends.

The Frederick area is rich with history, charm, culture, natural beauty, fine dining, nightlife and recreational activities. It is also a convenient central location from which to venture into Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Frederick is less than an hour from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Gettysburg, Antietam and Sharpsburg, and Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Besides its convenient location, Frederick is home to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, Fort Detrick, Bechtel, State Farm, the Frederick Keys minor league baseball team, the 5-star Volt Restaurant (with Top Chef runner-up Bryan Voltaggio), Hood College, the Weinberg Center, the Community Bridge designed by "public artist" William Cochran. and Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Frederick hosts many special events throughout the year, including many holiday adventures at year-end.

WE LOVED OUR STAY!! We got married on a Friday and the house was perfect for our international and long distance guests and us before they arrived. She left us complimentary champagne!! How thoughtful!! The house is exactly as the pictures depict and the description says. In fact, it's a bit larger than shown. That enabled us to do some last minute planning and assembly of welcome bags and bridesmaids bags. So convenient. The location allowed us to go grocery shopping, get last minute toiletries, and get to the venue easily. We were blessed with a perfect wedding and our stay at Traveler's House helped make that happen. Thank you, Nancy for the detailed instructions and quick response to questions. We would definitely stay again and recommend Traveler's to others!! THANK YOU!!

We enjoyed a wonderful New Year's weekend at the Traveler's House! Nancy provided plenty of useful information before our visit, and graciously left us a complimentary bottle of champagne. The house is sized perfectly for a couple, and felt so much better than staying in a hotel room. We enjoyed being able to walk just a few blocks to the downtown area. We're looking forward to a return visit this summer!

The house was clean and well-appointed. There was a complimentary bottle of champagne in the frig and basic food in cupboards (not complimentary). House was clean and orderly. When I called with a question about parking, Nancy and her husband were helpful.

I booked The Traveler's House for my cousin to stay. Nancy was easy to get in touch with and really willing to work with us as his schedule changed. The house was well maintained and very nice and in close proximity to downtown Frederick.

I am a Life enthusiast, event planner and travel junkie who fell in love with Frederick decades ago and who still thinks it is one of the most charming small towns in the USA. I love sharing Frederick with visitors.

I also love to champion creativity of all kinds.

I can't live without laughter, friends, good books, curiosity and candor.

Life is a gift - both the ups AND downs.

Come see us here in a Great American Main Street town!
