A spacious, en suite guest suite in a beautifully restored sixteenth century village house. Super-comfortable king size bed and complete silence at night make this the perfect place to catch up on your rest. Glorious scenery and lots to do locally, with busy Bedarieux only 10 minutes away by car. Perfect retreat for walkers, cyclists (secure bike storage) birders, writers and artists. Friendly hosts. Meals available by arrangement.

The space

Good quality, comfortable accommodation in the Haut Languedoc national park, a beautiful and largely undisturbed region of France. The room is large with a queen size bed. The bathroom, with a large corner bath, is en suite and the kitchen is next door in the garden courtyard. The kitchen is private and for your use alone. It has a refrigerator with a small ice box, a kettle, toaster, small oven and all the usual kitchen equipment you might need. If there is something you need that is not in the kitchen, do not suffer in silence, come and ask - we have everything! But to make this very clear, the bathroom is inside the suite but the kitchen is a separate room just 2 metres away. The pretty courtyard has a table and chairs for you to use if you would like to eat or take a drink outside. The courtyard and its cellar are also very safe for bicycles. The village sits on the junction of two major Herault cycle routes.

The village itself is profoundly quiet, and there is no through traffic, so a great place to play for pets and children. You are moments away from country views that stretch as far as the sea and the snowcapped Pyrenees. Pony trekking and a farm visit are both possible in the village by arrangement.

A large lake for swimming and fishing is ten minutes drive away. For wild swimmers, the stunning Gorges d'Heric are half an hour by car, where you can spend all day in the bracing waters and then lazing on the warm rocks.

The beach is forty five minutes drive.

The local town (all amenities) is eight kilometres/10 minutes drive away. Large market on Mondays, organic market on Saturdays.

The many attractions of Montpellier are fifty minutes away, where an enjoyable park and ride tram system will take you into the lively centre.

Beziers, with its Arab market, lovely cathedral and busy streets, is forty minutes drive away.

Locally, there are many excellent and welcoming vineyards.

The cuisine of the area is particularly special and there are many restaurants showcasing game and seafood dishes for which the Languedoc is famous. We are always happy to talk extensively about food and wine and to make recommendations.

We issue full instructions on arrival but remember to find the central WiFi Netgear49 and enter the password there before adopting your _ext_ for the suite, or it will try to work in reverse! Login and password, as well as our full address and contacts are included in your booking details. Look for the church and you can't miss us.

Guest access

Wireless Internet
Laundry facilities (for stays of more than three nights)
Tea and coffee in adjoining kitchen
Courtyard garden
Please note we have good WiFi if you want to stream a movie on your device but there are no televisions at all in the house.

Interaction with guests

We will be on the premises and occupy the main house. Guest accommodation is on the ground floor and private, although we will pass through the courtyard during the day. You will have your own keys for the main gate and all is secure. We are happy to interact, and always ready to offer advice on the area and attractions, but guests come to enjoy their time away, not talk to us!

Other things to note

Our large ground floor room is wheelchair accessible and breakfast can be served in the room. It has a bath rather than a shower, but the bath has a built in seat.

We own a small, relaxed and very docile terrier. She is restricted to our living area when guests are in residence, but you may see her around from time to time.

I absolutely recommend Lucy's place to everyone. The accommodation is beautiful: a big bedroom in a 17th century country house renovated and decorated with style. A small kitchen is also available to prepare your meals at home... small but everything you need, including a washing machine. The location is lovely and quiet, the views and scenery breathtaking. For what you pay you really can't ask for more. On top of all that, Lucy is a wonderful host, very helpful and caring. She even helped us out when we had a bit of a misadventure during our holiday. We really need to thank her warmly for everything.

A wonderful stay in a quiet and charming French village. Beautiful views across the hills, with supermarkets and decent restaurants a short drive away. Lucy was a perfect host, going above and beyond the call of duty to make us comfortable.

Amazing moment, amazing place and area. The best of two worlds. I'm jealous thinking about someone check-in by Lucy as I can't wait myself but an opportunity to go back myself. Merci !

We had an overnight stay at Lucy's place. The apartment is just as described. It was cold but there's a portable heater and central heating if that is not enough. Communication with Lucy was prompt. There aren't any shops or restaurants in the village so bring supplies or Lucy will cater with a bit of notice. We shared a lovely evening with Lucy.

Lucy is a great host, we had a delay on our trip and she still made sure everything worked out fine for our check in. The place is beautiful, very comfortable bed, nice bath tub and lovely english decoration. Would definitely stay again at Lucy's in this very cosy village.
