We visited Greg and Betty's during Mardi Gras and had a fabulous time. The communication that we had beforehand was brilliant as Greg told us all about the road closures etc because of the festivities. We decided to do without a car for the week and managed very well with buses, trolley cars and our legs! Greg also gave us a couple of lifts which really helped us and gave us some good information about New Orleans history which we could tell he was passionate about. He also gave us tips on where to eat and what to eat as we are English and not very knowledgeable on local cuisine! They were good tips. Our room was comfortable and plenty big enough for the two of us. Thanks Greg and Betty for a lovely week.

We had a great time in New Orleans thanks to Greg and Betty. They made us feel so welcome (even gave us a ride to the French quarter for the New Year celebrations) and had great stories about the city and gave us great advise on where to go and what to visit. The house is gorgeous and the room was perfect. The 3 little cats were the bonus. I definitely will be back. 5 stars all the way.

Our experience was mixed, which is sad, as I rarely have a negative word to offer in an Airbnb review. I've been hosting on Airbnb since it was launched, so I believe I offer a fair, balanced perspective. This home is very nice in many ways, but potential guests should be aware of the following: Our main disappointment was being stranded outside the home upon arrival, on a relatively cold and blustery day, with no answer to phone call or text. For hosts, it's easy it is to send notes and/or provide any/all necessary info via the Airbnb site, so I found this pretty disappointing -- a first in my global Airbnb travels. Fortunately, we had a car, and simply took all the luggage with us to a restaurant. When we met the hosts later, one was extremely gracious and friendly, while one was less so. It turned out the key had been left in the mailbox. I had taken a peek, but I didn't want to rummage uninvited through a packed mailbox, especially since I found a letter with a name different from the hosts. The home itself is quite handsome -- great bones. There are many beautiful furnishings, though there is also some deferred maintenance (old tub, damaged wood) and a bit of clutter. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed comfy. The veranda was dusty but a great place to sit on the following, warmer days. The rate for this home isn't particularly low, so ultimately the value was just so-so. We picked this home because it was reasonably close to Jazz Fest -- a quick, $5 ride via Lyft. It's about 15 minutes to the edge of the Quarter. I recommend walking once you hit the heavily trafficked area.

My husband and I visited New Orleans for the Jazz and Heritage Fest, and we wanted to stay somewhere quiet and sedate, so that we could rest after our high energy days at the Jazz Fest and the French Quarter. Betty and Greg's house was perfect in that respect, and the accommodations are exactly as described in their listing. The room is very comfortable and the bathroom en suite was comfortable. I felt we had complete privacy and a nice place to stay, yet at the same time, our hosts were there when we had questions. Betty and Greg are wonderful people! We so enjoyed talking to them! They also gave us printed material on sites of interest and readily offered directions to everywhere we wanted to go. The neighborhood is very nice, almost suburban in atmosphere, near the beautiful New Orleans City Park and also near a bayou alongside which my husband did his morning runs. The neighborhood does not have stores or coffee shops within walking distance, but Greg made a pot of coffee for us every morning and Betty kept a supply of breakfast foods available for us. For transportation, we used Lyft a great deal--Service was very reliable. We also took the bus downtown one morning and that was fine. The bus stops on Canal Street and then it's a pleasant short walk to the French Quarter. Also, Betty dropped us off once at the Fairgrounds for the Jazz Fest and also once at City Park when we wanted to explore the Park. She and Greg were more than willing to drive us somewhere when they had time. This was above and beyond what we expected and we really appreciated their friendliness in this regard! They are both just terrific and personable, and they have a lovely house in a nice quiet neighborhood.

We loved the place and greg& Betty were great hosts. The place as listed and had a good bathtub. The location even though not very close to any restaurants was accessible to public transport. Check in and check out were smooth and hassle free. Greg met us when we checked in and gave a tour of the place. He gave us suggestions for places to visit.

Sheer perfection! This has to be one of the top ten airbnb’s anywhere. And one of my very best travel experiences during 60 years of travel. Other reviews of this property are all accurate (No negatives that I could detect). And Greg and Betty take it well beyond 5 star levels in all ratings with very kind and most friendly treatment of their guests. I stayed for 5 days during the end of Mardi Gras, probably the most difficult time for New Orleans visitors. Greg helped with all traffic problems coming into the city, gave me and his other guests rides averting the crowded and impossible streets, showed us the sights (with an outstanding knowledge of Nola and its history), and was always available as needed at difficult moments. Betty served up appropriate snacks (King Cake, fruit, etc.), provided many interesting stories about her life in South America and New Orleans, and kept the house neat and tidy for the several guests visiting at the time. I cannot imagine any better treatment than that which I enjoyed. Forget the expensive hotel chains. Stay with Greg and Betty for one of the most enjoyable travel experiences available anywhere on the planet. Will I go back? You betcha … see you there in 2018 during Mardi Gras time (if not before).
