Stylish retreat high up in Tallebudgera Valley has 360 views, large pool, 200 meters of decks, modcons, solar PV, tank water. Panoramic BBQ. Sculpture gardens. Recycled + new. 20 minutes drive from Burleigh Beach. Sleeps 10+. An experience awaits...
A visit to this homemade Gold Coast hinterland eco-resort offers a stylish and comfortable experience that you, your family and your friends will remember…
The house is set on 8 acres and sleeps up to ten people (12 with comfy couches). You'll find the property 25 minutes' drive from the Gold Coast airport, and 20 minutes from Burleigh Beach. Cook from home or dine out from a corner of the Gold Coast that's our hidden secret.
It is built with recycled Queenslander cladding and aged corrugated iron sides. The large main room blends stylish and rustic furnishings and includes two large couches, a dining area, open kitchen, a strong wireless network and Netflix from the US. This large lounge/living/kitchen/bar room is surrounded by glass with one wall opening to a forest escarpment. The covered barbecue area near a large pool seats 8 (12 with a nearby bench) and becomes the centre of the home with panoramic views. There is a large skillion covering a big deck which has a fan for cool afternoons outside.
It's a perfect location for a large family reunion, or a break from city life for friends seeking relaxation and fun.
During cool winter evenings the wood stove will keep you cozy. Through the Queensland heat enjoy a large pool surrounded by decks and comfortable shaded areas and a home designed to open for breezes, with large ceiling fans or floor fans in each room. The main lounge/kitchen room and master bedroom have solar powered aircon as backup.
Three bedrooms are located in a separate wing attached by decks. They sleep up to six (one queen, two kings). All bedrooms open onto a rainforest garden veranda or have sweeping valley views. A shed 'bunkhouse' has another queen sized bed and two bunk beds. Two comfy couches and an outdoor balinese day bed offer further accommodation.
The main bathroom has bathtub and a sliding wall that opens to the forest if you fancy a bath with a view. The master bedroom also has an on-suite, and the bunkhouse has another toilet + shower.
The most magical aspect if this place is its natural setting.
Wallabies regularly wander between the home and the neighbour’s property. You will wake up to a gentle symphony of birds as the sun hits valley walls…
Guests can drive down to Burleigh Beach in 20 minutes, and the Gold Coast Airport is 25 minutes away. Walk along the lovely road in the evenings where neighbours enjoy 8 acre blocks like this one.
Dine down at the Coast at our famed restaurants and/or cook from home. The place is easy to find though hidden away, and you'll get tips for uncovering the very best of the Gold Coast.
Interaction with guests
The entire home is available, and Mara the owner looks forward to greeting you to show your group around. You can reach her by mobile if something comes up or you want ideas for restaurants or shopping.
Other things to note
Because this stay is a 20 minute drive from shops, food planning is a good idea unless you plan to do all meals down the valley. Mara will leave fresh bread, milk, coffee and tea, and room in the fridge/freezer to store food.
There's space in the bar fridge to store your drinks. Plan ahead for meals and you will enjoy cooking as if in a forest - but with all the amenities and a kitchen that lets you enjoy cooking together.
Notes for how to use the sound system, TV and wifi will set you up for a good stay. This is a semi-rural setting but free to air works just fine.
This is a dog/cat friendly home - your pets are welcome if they're part of your holiday but please let Mara know in advance so she can leave out water bowls etc.
Special events like birthday parties, Hen's nights etc are welcome. But this is not a party house!
Please don't bother coming if you are into partying heavy and don't appreciate the peaceful and lovely setting of this property. It is a sustainable home with magnificent views.
No smoking in the house, no diddles in the pool.
Make sure you turn off the gas after using the BBQ.
This is a spectacular corner of the Gold Coast hinterland and our neighbours value peace and quiet, so no loud music after 11pm please...
I live in the Gold Coast hinterland's Tallebudgera Valley with two gorgeous dogs Banjo and Tashi. After living in inner Sydney for 15 years, I love being on a property in mountains so close to the beach, and less than half an hour away from the Gold Coast airport.
The Gold Coast is a spectacular place. Beaches, waterways, tons of "urban action" and also a diverse cultural scene, world-class dining, unexpected pockets of music, and a magnificent hinterland that looks down on it all. I love it here.
Originally a technology investment banker, I'm a Company Director and consultant to business, governments, non-profits and universities. So I'm on the move quite a bit. In between I work from this lovely forest home which is such a treat. Love to garden, cook, watch movies, and explore the hinterland.
I'm easy going, like meeting new people, and enjoy learning about new cultures and ideas. As a native Brazilian who was educated in the US and lived in Nepal before moving to Australia 25 years ago, I've come to love diversity as a spice of life.
