Welcome to my beautiful and comfortable homestay. Soak in panoramic views of the Faxaflói bay from an eclectic and artsy environment. I rent out two rooms at my home. My art studio is located in the first story of the building.
A serene setting with expansive vistas conducive to repose. The house is set on the end of a peninsula poetically named Saeunn - Sea, she who is loved. All views from the kitchen and living room are stunning. The interior is comfortable and elegant. The walls are adorned with artworks. This room is furnished with a queen size bed, linens, and is equipped with black out blinds and curtains for our midnight sun.
The living area, kitchen and full bath are shared spaces. Feel at home to cook a meal in the kitchen. The Kitchen may be used in the morning from 8 am until check out and from arrival until 10 pm in the evening and is equipped with pots, pans oils, vinegar and spices. Enjoy the views from the living room at any time. From 10 pm to 8 am are quiet hours in all shared spaces. The full bath is equipped with natural Icelandic shampoo and hand soap. We encourage our guests to use natural products in our home.
Interaction with guests
We are happy to give directions or recommendations. Let us know if there's something special you need, otherwise we will give you space to enjoy the quiet views. Sometimes we have friends or family over for a visit. It's usually quiet however sometimes it's just like a normal home.
Other things to note
We are licensed to rent rooms in our home. Please note Airbnb has 2 kinds of listings; Bed and Breakfast and Room. We are listed as a room.
We are happy to share our home and hope you feel at home. We are not a hotel or guesthouse we're a couple of nice artists sharing our space. My boyfriend and I have other vocations, and also may attend to work and family. Most of the year we're at home, now and again we travel abroad. Sometimes to exhibit or visit family, in which case a family member is usually home. Our home has many rooms aside from the 2 rooms we host at Airbnb.
We have three extremely affectionate cats at home, they like belly rubs and to be petted. They are indoor and outdoor Icelandic cats and have their own entry.
You may arrive anytime after five. If you arrive after 9 pm please send us a message. We like to meet all the guests who stay at our home. There is a lock box with a key for arrival flexibility and detailed instructions with the location of your room. Feel free to use our kitchen to prepare your breakfast. Also the bakery has many nice treats and opens early. It is also a location where the Secret Life of Walter Mitty was filmed.
The weather in Iceland is very unpredictable and extreme. Please take care when renting a car outside of the summer season to be sure it's a four wheel or all wheel drive.
When you arrive in the afternoon it's advisable to grocery shop close to keflavik. If you like to drink it is advised to purchase alcoholic beverages at the airport duty free store. Otherwise there is a Vinbudin store which sells alcohol. Grocery shopping may not offer the variety of produce you are accustomed to. Kronan and Víðir in Reykjavik have a larger selection than the grocery stores in Borgarnes. If you are a Costco member you can register here for a temporary card and shop at their Icelandic store in Gardabaer.
Upon arrival please parallel park your car on the street in front of our house and leave enough place for 2 other cars. Please DO NOT park in front of the neighbors home.
Most homes in Iceland have have a no shoes policy. It may be good to pack slippers or inside shoes. This is a non smoking house . Quiet hours in the shared spaces (kitchen and living room) are from 10 pm. to 10 am. The cats are not permitted in the bedrooms. ;-(
There are waste containers located in front of the house. The green one is for paper and food waste. The black one is for everything else except glass. Glass you can give to me.

I'm an artist. I love cloudscapes, seascapes, shell fish and blueberries. Cooking, wine tasting, and coastal hikes. I'm learning the Tango and Icelandic. Both are challenging. I love to travel whether it be hiking, walking, biking, tuk tuks, rickshas, taxi's, limo's, canoes, boating, sailing, ballooning, cruising, or flying...but don't like to drive.
