Where you’ll be

Dorset, England, United Kingdom

The ancient market town of Sherborne is famous for its Abbey Church, the renowned Sherborne Boys’ School and two Castles, one owned by Sir Walter Raleigh. The Abbey and many of the medieval and Georgian buildings are built from distinctive ochre-coloured hamstone.

Sherborne is a popular centre of activity for locals and visitors alike. It is known for its cultural events and festivals as well as its beautiful high street. Cheap Street is home to a wide range of independent shops offering fashion, gifts, antiques, local food, specialist chocolates, wine and more.

Sherborne has many traditions and perhaps the strangest is 'Teddy Rowe's Band' noisily signalling the start of our October Pack Monday Fair with whistles, bells, pots and pan lids in midnight procession around the town!

Sherborne was constituted as a cathedral city around AD 705. When visiting Dorset, Sherborne is an ideal place to stay with a main line railway station straight to Waterloo, London. The writer Sir Simon Jenkins called Sherborne “the prettiest small town in Dorset”but come and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
