This is a lovely place. Very unlike any place I have ever visited. However it has a charm of its own. We loved it. The place is rustic and has an excellent positive vibe to it. We stated for 2 nights. Breakfast was included. Was super. The house help only spoke portuguese, but was helpful. The bathroom is good too. Hot water and clean. I liked my stay and we have left with fond memories. Just remember, Sunday all is closed, so dinner can be an issue. Also to go from here back to the airport is a bit difficult if you have early morning flight. Need to make adequate arrangements in advance.

Joana completely deserves the title of 'superhost '. Her place is like a little sanctuary, it's charming, comfortable, relaxing and full of beautiful things, a lot of them made by Joana herself. Joana picked me up from the airport and when I left she got up at 5 am to make me breakfast. I didn't expect it but I really appreciated it. The house is easy walking distance to all of the historical places in olinda and many bars and restaurants. The area is full of local people and felt very safe.

Joana makes Olinda perfect! Despite that she don't speak English and we Portuguese, she was always taking good care of us. Very very nice, easy going and friendly. The house is super nice and full of love. Every little things , decorations and furnitures are so beautiful that I would buy everything if I see them on flohmarkt. Her house is the quiet oasis in the heart of crazy Olinda during carnival. Besides the nice atmosphere of her house, the super tasty homemade breakfast full of nice surprises is the reason that I will recommend this host and room for all of us.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay during carnaval with Joana in this incredibly warm and welcoming house. Filled with plants and art, the house blends in with the gardens surrounding it, making this a true oasis, practically in the heart of Olinda. Breakfast was also superb!

Joana's house is a wonderful place to stay. She is very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are lovely decorated and furnished and we felt safe and comfortable at her place. Although the street leading to her property is not a very nice one. Due to heavy rain, we got wet & muddy feet from time to time. The breakfast she is serving is fantastic! A pity we were not able to communicate more with her since I am not able to speak portuguese. I just found it a bit overpriced during the world cup considering that we had to share the bathroom. But all in all, we had a very good time and I can recommend to stay with Joana. Thanks again for your hospitality.

This was a great place to stay. Joana is a wonderful host and the breakfast was just remarkable. The place is clean and decorated very nicely. The short walk to Olinda is nice as well. What a wonderful vibrant town! Only advice would be to have earplugs on hand since the cacophony of nearby wildlife can be very loud at night. Though also fun to listen to. Also, there are quite a few mosquitos so be sure to bring repelant. The home is open which adds to the charm but my daughter had lots and lots of bites after we left. Overall, I would highly recommend staying with Joana.

After being welcomed by Joanna and her friends we immediately felt at home in this quiet oasis in the midst of the lively town of Olinda being a boiling pot during Carnival. We were treated as part of family and it was always great to come home and be able to relax a little in these wonderful surroundings. Joanna put a lot of effort into the tasteful design of the room and garden. Nothing to add to the below comments about the breakfast it was simply the best we had allover Brazil - even compared to the few 4* places we went. The only smaller downside was that the minumum stay for Carnival was 5 nights and there wasn't that much to do in Olinda besides partying on the street all day as all sights such as museums and churches were closed for this period. All in all we highly recommend staying at Joanna's place!!
