The name Loohvana has being inspire by the old Zapotec name of the Etla's valley, meaning " valley of seedling". I have four bedrooms of different size and occupancy. Each have their own bathroom, beds, working and resting areas. Throughout the house the guests can share and enjoy several libraries, reading and working areas, a great collection of art works, terraces and gardens with beautiful views.

The space

The Green Walnut Room has its private terrace that looks out upon a 100 year old walnut tree where you can see the sun rise. From the same room you can view the sun set too. The room is spacious and includes two double beds, a well illuminated working area and has its how bathroom. You arrive on the second by a large wooden stairway made out of "huanacaxtle" and share a hallway with the other guest of Villa Loohvana that has a large working table, reading area, libraries and a huge terrace with a beautiful view that can accommodate a large party of peoples.

The Yellow Sunset Room, the smallest of the house, has two large windows facing the setting sun. It includes one double bed, its own bathroom, a working area and a small living room. Our second floor's guests can share the hallway with a large working table, reading area and libraries together with a large adjoining terrace with a beautiful view

The Blue Monte Alban Room can receive a large family or a large group of visitor. It is set on the second floor across the terrace. It has two double beds and two single beds, a large closet, working and resting area and a bathroom with a tub. The Blue Room presides on Monte Alban and has a delightful view on the valley of Oaxaca.

The Terrace Room is set in one of the gardens and has its how individual entrance and green space. This wide bedroom faces the west and include two double beds, living and working area, and a spacious bathroom. Ideal for longer stay and private time in your own Eden.

We loved the casual comfortable way of Michelle. It was like visiting a really good friend. Loved the house which is amazing and the grounds that are so beautiful. The dogs are amazing. We arrived at night and thought maybe we are too far out but the taxi system is both inexpensive and efficient. Michelle had many places to reccommend and my niece and I went on a second hand clothing hunt for a wedding she needed to attend in Mexico City. Wow two amazing dresses for less that 20 dollars. Michelle altered one dress for my niece...very generous woman. She was entertaining, enlightening and informing...would stay there again for sure. Oh and the breakfasts were big and delicious, she loves to cook and she is a very committed recycler.

Michelle's place is like a place in a fairy tale! Beautiful, calm and really relaxing. We enjoyed our stay at her place. She is very communicative and offers delixicious homemade products for breakfast. Don't miss her 10-grains- bread! :) At her place you are in the nature and can breath fresh and pure air. Sometimes you find little spiders, but they protect you from moscitos bites. Thank you Michelle for the lovely time at your place. Denis

We had a nice stay with michelle. She was very friendly and helpful. Big house with 2 cuddly dogs. We encountered couple of bugs in the bathroom but it was very clean.

I ended up extending my stay as I felt so at home. The fresh juice bar, local art centre, taxi's collectivos into central Oaxaca and beautiful environment could have kept me there for longer! I think I would prefer to stay here in the future when visiting central Oaxaca to get away from the tourist identity but still be able to access all that the area has to offer.

Response from Michelle:
Hola Antonia, hope you got where you wanted. I was just thinking this morning about some mosquito nets for the room. Little thing like in the green room they will have to be the same. hasta pronto, besos y bon voyage, Michelle

Michelle's house is absolutely beautiful. As someone who was looking for a reflective space to do some creative work, this was a very nourishing and inspiring place to be. As with all Airbnb's the host's themselves are as important as the spaces they offer us, Michelle and extended family and friends (who I was lucky enough to meet) are all wonderful and really enriched my experience. I don't think anything can top the incredible breakfasts out on the terrace! I would highly recommend staying at Villa Loohvana!

This is a fantastic place to stay! San Agustin de Etla was a lovely village... with a raw juice bar. Michelle and her daughter were friendly and welcoming and now feel like friends. The room was spacious with its own patio, and the breakfast was delicious! I'm glad we made the decision to stay here instead of in downtown Oaxaca. It was lovely to be able to come home to calm. Thanks, Michelle!

Michelle User Profile
