Caldas da Rainha is a city in the centre of Portugal and it is on the coast. It is about 80 km from Lisbon.
This city is famous for the thermal water. There is the oldest Thermal Hospital in Europe with more than 500 years. Around it there is a great park and a forest.
Caldas da Rainha is also know for the art and culture. If you like ceramics and painting you should visit "São Rafael House-Museum" and "José Malhoa Museum".
If you prefer shopping can't miss "Praça da Fruta", a place where several people who live around the city sell their fruits and vegetables. You also will find another products like bread, cakes, cheese, flowers... ... Are you sweet tooth? Try out sweets called Trouxas de Ovos, Cavacas and Beijinhos.
Near this city are two beaches called Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto.
Portuguese West Cost has many other interesting places to visit.
Óbidos is a village known for medieval castle, cherry liqueur in a chocolate cup, and several golf fiels.
If you like water sports or eating fish you must visit Peniche or Nazaré.
Are you a nature lover? Go to Berlengas (Peniche) Island or Buddha Eden Garden (Bombarral).
What about romantic and brave kings? Have a look to the temples called Mosteiro de Alcobaça and Mosteiro da Batalha.
