Set among an abundant and lively garden, The Barn is our fully detached, unique guest house. The building was originally a fully functional blue stone farm barn but since owning the property we have converted the space into an open plan house, complete with kitchen, bathroom, large living area and two mezzanine bedrooms. The outside remains in its original state while the inside has been decorated with a collection of artwork and objects from our travels overseas.

The space
The Barn faces east with beautiful morning light pouring through its floor to ceiling windows. The two private outdoor seating areas are designed so you can enjoy as much of the day as possible in the sweet calm Weatherboard countryside. We have a chook pen and pond on site, which houses a wonderful ecosystem of frogs.

The living space is naturally cool during summer due to its thick bluestone walls and becomes a cosy nest in winter with the fire going.

The open plan nature of the house makes it ideal for a couple or a few close friends (the only completely private room in the house is the bathroom). We have housed many dinner parties and weekend get-togethers and the barn allows for everyone to feel a part of the fun.

The area is very well suited for cyclists. The Avenue of Honour we live on runs approximately 25 kilometres back towards Ballarat, partially serviced with bike tracks and is a great ride. All around are quiet country roads and it is possible to explore extensively on a bike.

Weatherboard Hill is directly behind us and we have access for climbing to the top from where there is a magnificent view.
