About this listing

Private beach house with fabulous pool on Marine Conservancy.

The space

Situated on a cliff at the north end of Kuruwitu Marine Conservancy, the house enjoys lovely views and gentle breezes. Tastefully furnished and comfortable. It has a mature garden and a fun sundowner deck just above the Indian Ocean. There is a gorgeous 12 x 6m infinity pool with a stunning pool house. There is a cook, a housekeeper, a groundsman and Maintenance man. The house has good security. Staff quarters can accommodate one extra if required.

The master bedroom has its own sectioned off veranda as well as a nook with a desk and an extra bed. The middle bedroom has a double bed and a sofa bed suitable for a young child. The rear bedroom has 2 single beds and a bunk bed. There is a small TV with a DVD player in this room. There is a selection of kid and adult movies that can be borrowed. All bedrooms have air-conditioning and standing fans in case of preference or power cuts. All bedrooms are ensuite with large bathrooms with showers.

There is wi-fi but guests need to buy airtime from Safaricom and log on to choose a bundle they wish to purchase with the airtime. Safaricom scratch cards are easily available including at the closest villages.

The sitting/dining area is big and very airy with good security wrought iron all around. It is tastefully furnished in a coastal style with wooden overhead fans and 'lamu beds' as sofa's. There is a games chest with scrabble, poker etc.
The kitchen is relatively small compared to the rest of the house and is manned by Reuben who is a competent cook specialising in seafood, curries and swahili style cooking. Pili is the housekeeper and takes care of the laundry and general cleaning.

Guest access

The house has direct beach access at low - mid tide. Steps to beach relatively steep for the elderly/infirm. Beach access at very high tide (for keen body surfers) or for elderly folk unable to manage the steps is only a few hundred metres down the road on the public access route.

The pool and beach: Kuruwitu Beach is one of the last unspoilt beaches on the Kenyan coast. Despite it being blissfully bare of people and beach boys , it is secure as there are 'askari's' patrolling for the marine conservancy. It is also unusually clean as the conservancy oversee the picking up of the debris that is common along most coastlines. The snorkeling metres off the shore is incredible - coral heads mean an abundance of tropical fish, octopus, lobster. There is a glass bottom boat as well as a fishing/dolphin spotting boat for hire. The conservancy also offer guided tours of the reef where there are even more wonderful snorkeling spots.
The infinity pool set in front of the house has a 'baby pool' section. The adjoining pool house is large and comfortable with a bar and drinks fridge as well as a living and dining area, a water feature and sunbeds. The terrace below with plunge pool is not safe for young or unaccompanied children.

As an Airbnb host myself, I can honestly say that Neem tree is not just a house that you rent for your vacation but an experience. I stayed at Neem tree with 6 adults and 3 children for a week and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Not only is the house, pool and grounds unique and beautiful, the local area offers lots of nice day trips and activates. The staff is helpful, friendly and great with kids. Lyndsey is perfect host offering lots of tips with her outstanding and reliable communication. My family and friends highly recommend Neem tree for a perfect coastal vacation.

Wonderful pool, very friendly and helpful staff. Secluded location, so not that great if you want to be out and about, but perfect if you just want to hang around and enjoy.

This is a very special beach house. We spent 10 days camped by the pool, in a cooling sea breeze, with spectacular ocean views attended to by charming staff who looked after us well. Fisherman regularly bring shellfish and fish to the door and Patrick does his thing, although the timing of the meals can be a bit erratic. That's Africa for you! Lyndsey, our hostess was a great help in the planning and in sorting out teething issues when we were there. The airstrip at Vipingo Ridge, served by SafariLink, is only 10 minutes away which is a game changer and makes this easy to combine with safari or other Kenyan activities. All in all, highly recommended for a beautiful and secluded beach house holiday

Lyndsey was a great host - she sent lots of information that helped us have a easy and smooth trip to and at Neem Tree. Neem Tree itself is gorgeous - we didn't want to leave! It's the perfect getaway with all the amenities you could ever need. The staff are lovely and Reuben is a fantastic cook. We were so pleased and will absolutely be back again.

If you are visiting the Kenyan Coast and looking for a private secluded place to have an amazing place then you do not need to look further!! Neem Tree is a lovely home that can accomodate a large group of friends or family. The home is as beautiful inside as is the area by the pool and the pool itself. There is also a huge balcony on top of the house that has a great view of the pool and the indian ocean where you can relax. Reuben (chef) Pili and Emmanuel were amazing with their hospitality and went out of their way to make sure we were all comfortable and having a good time. If you fancy sea food then buy some and Reuben will make you a delicious meal. Lyndsey (host) was very quick to respond to my message and send me a detailed list about the villa and everything we need to know before and during our stay to make it an extra comfortable and enjoyable break. I would recommend it any day!!

It was just awesome. From the beginning, all went smooth. Lyndsey went the extra mile(s!) to make sure we had all information that we could possibly need during our stay. The people she has working for her are lovely. The house is amazing and we spent almost all our time at the pool or on the very safe and deserted beach. Monkeys came to visit us sometimes in the morning, and we had fresh lobster, prawns, squid, red snapper...... We really asked ourselves why it is again that we live in Uganda and not here..!

I run a modeling and casting agency in Kenya but also do photography, interior decor and event organisation. My husband and I have lived in Kenya our whole lives but have travelled extensively. We bought this house because I have family in France and my husbands parents and sister live not far over the border in Spain. We fell in love with Ceret.
