Description

The space

Large double room with ensuite shower room in traditional-style cottage in fabulous location by the coast with views over Loch Tuath to the Isle of Ulva and the Treshnish Islands. An extra mattress on the floor can be provided for an additional charge. Cooked breakfast is served in the farmhouse style kitchen with Aga, and features local, seasonal produce: home-baked bread , eggs from own hens and Isle of Mull dry-cured bacon. Other dietary requirements by prior agreement.
Lip na Cloiche has a wonderful garden, featured in numerous magazines, including Country Living and The English Garden. It is on a steep slope and planted with a huge range of shrubs and herbaceous, and is maintained solely by Lucy. There is a wonderful seating area at the top to enjoy the view and watch for wildlife: there are frequent sightings of eagles and otters.
Lucy also makes cards and crafts from driftwood and other found objects, a selection is for sale at the cottage.
Ballygown Bay – 200 metres in front of the cottage – is sheltered and great for launching kyacks to explore the coast and neighbouring islands. The hills behind the cottage provide excellent hillwalking.
Lip na Cloiche is an ideal stop-off point for cyclists on the west coast. It is also an excellent base from which to explore the offshore islands. Ulva Ferry is 2 ½ miles away: there is a ferry over to the Isle of Ulva – wonderful for walking, wildlife and the renowned Boathouse Restaurant. Sea trips to Staffa, the Treshnish Islands and Iona also leave from Ulva Ferry, also sea eagle viewing trips.
Ballygown restaurant (BYOB) is just down the road for excellent evening meals in friendly location.

Lucy's place is truly a house of dreams. I've never had such breathtaking views outside my bedroom window before, nor have I stayed in a house with that much character! Lucy was extremely hospitable and helpful - her tips are not to be ignored, and her breakfast was an absolute joy. Get a boat from Ulva Ferry over to Staffa and Lunga - you won't regret it! One of the best experiences of my entire life. Thank you Lucy!

From arriving in time for tea in the garden and watching the sun set over the sea, to a wonderful night's sleep after a day of walking the peninsula and tasting local beer - Lucy and her hospitality was unrivalled. It was a truly amazing stay. Lucy has all manner of suggestions for activities and places to eat, including an amazing BYOB restaurant (Ballygown Restaurant) run by a mega cool couple. The 8-mile walk around Treshnish point is beyond beautiful and Lucy's excellent breakfasts set you up properly for this. We will be coming back. 10/10.

A very rural B&B in a remote and quiet part of Mull Island. Lucy's place is quite unique, with a beautiful garden and a spectacular view from the porch. The cooked breakfast was delicious and there is a good restaurant a few minutes down the road.
