Our gorgeous old 3 bedroom Victorian home is in Cape Town's popular Southern Suburbs, which wrap around Table Mountain. it is ideally placed for access to major tourist sights, but you may choose instead to relax by our large pool or cozy fireplaces.

The space

The house was built in 1905 and has the original wooden floors, sash windows with shutters and fireplaces in 3 of the rooms. It's lovely features have been used in local and international film/photo shoots.

We have cut our prices due to the global economic slump. At these special rates we ask guests to feed our 2 lovable dogs, 1 crazy cat and 3 laying hens! Or we can just charge a little more and send the pets to the kennels.

The entire house is available over December/January and June/July. Thornhill Rd sleeps 6 (or more) in 3 lovely bedrooms. There are 3 bathrooms (with free standing bath or shower), a spacious lounge with fireplace and new open plan kitchen/dining room.

It was a pleasure to work with Sandra while I was organizing our holiday and she went the extra mile to ensure we had everything we needed, from providing a toy box for my two year old nephew to excursion suggestions. My brother and his family arrived a few days before we did and were warmly greeted by Sandra and her family and helped to settle in. Their beautiful home was exactly as we expected, perfect for our two families and very comfortable - a home away from home. We loved looking after the two adorable dogs, Milligan and Sophie, Kai the cat and the chickens, and sitting by the cosy fire in the evenings became a great way to end each day. The openness of the living area, the large spacious rooms and beautiful wooden floors make this heritage house a very special place. The central location of the neighborhood made it quick and easy to get into town, to the beach and to the airport. The home is very secure, with an electric gate and alarm system and my two year old nephew was able to run around the garden and play without us worrying about him escaping! The pool has a secure cover on it, which was excellent too. I can't recommend Sandra and her family's beautiful home enough and we would absolutely stay there again. Thank you, and we hope to see you all again!

Thank you to Sandra and Barry for making the first stop on our South African adventure so amazing. The house is fantastic, the pictures don't do it justice. Sandra and Barry were available at a moments notice, their neighbours were so helpful as we'll as their house cleaner Thembi! Special mention to the dogs Milligan and Sophie, fantastic pets and guard dogs! We were all sad to say goodbye to the heritage home in Rondebosch!

We stayed at the Heritage Home over New Year and it was perfect. It is located about 15 mins away from the V&A area so a car is necessary. The area is nice and peaceful and its quite nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. The house has lots of security features too so we always felt safe and nearby is a big common where we walked the dogs and were not hassled at all. The house was lovely and clean and everything we could need was provided, even some yummy biscuits and some breakfast items to get us going which was a nice touch. There is a grocery store, liquor store and plenty of restaurants nearby, along with easy access to the freeway to get to the touristy areas, so everything is handy. Sandra the host (and her family) were very helpful and responsive to email. This is the first time i had used airbnb so was a bit wary of paying and not hearing from the host but it was totally the opposite...even though we never met we chatted like friends!! Any questions we had while we were at the house Sandra was able to answer too. The animals at the house were great and nice to have around, the dogs were super sweet and the chickens laid us eggs each day for breakfast. I would highly recommend this house, it has everything you need, nice and spacious and in a lovely area and the hosts were really lovely!!

The Heritage Home was an absolutely wonderful place to spend a nice quiet week over the holiday season! Located on a quiet residential street in Rondebosch in Cape Town, Sandra's home is wonderfully furnished with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and two bathrooms. It was a confortable place to spend a week. Sandra was beyond repsonsive. Just to give one example, my family lives in a central African country where Western dentistry is non-existant. We wanted to visit a dentist in during our vacation in South Africa, and we asked Sandra if she could recommend one. Not only did she recommend one - she made the reservations for us! She also left us incredibly detailed notes about the house and how everything worked. We didn't have any questions. We wouldn't hesitate to rent from Sandra again, and we strongly recommend her and the house for a wonderful getaway in Cape Town!

Sandra is phenomenal, felt right at home. Close to all things CT, and a beautiful home and wonderful family! If I had to do it again, I'd have stayed my whole time here! I could go on.... HIGHLY, highly recommended.

The Matthew family love living in Cape Town and enjoy all it has to offer. We also love travelling, and exploring new cultures, whether it be Africa or the rest of the world. We know what we like in accommodation when we travel and try to apply this to ensuring our guests have a fabulous stay.

We rent out our home to fund our travels and continue to improve our heritage property.

We trust people will enjoy our home as much as we do and use it as a wonderful base from which to explore our beautiful region.
