A bright and spacious timber roundhouse nestled below a single-track road amongst trees and by the shores of Loch Broom. Am Falachan offers a warm welcome within a private and peaceful self-contained dwelling with sweeping views over Loch Broom to Beinn Dearg and the surrounding hills.

Am Falachan is located in Letters (An Leitir), 2.5 miles off the A835 and approximately 10 miles from the west coast fishing village of Ullapool. A perfect basecamp for Scotland's Highlands.

The space
The accommodation is a beautiful round wooden space, the front half of which is fully glazed providing a near 180 degree panorama of the surrounding view. Within this one room there is a double sofa-bed, kitchen and sitting area, and additionally there is a small private shower room and an entrance porch with storage cupboards.

The roundhouse sits below the single-track road and is tucked into the contour of the hill. In front is a small wooded area leading down to the sea loch which can be accessed from the roundhouse.

Guest access
The entire internal space is for guests' private use. Outside you will be free to roam along the loch and also walk through the woods behind our house (above the road) to the hills beyond. There are maps and walking guides in the accomodation.

Facilities inside include a kitchen area with sink, small fridge, kettle, 2-ring hob and Remoska mini oven; you are welcome to use these to prepare your own drinks and meals. Food for a continental style breakfast will be provided along with eggs from our free range hens (if they are laying!) and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk. Please let us know if you have any dietary preferences.

The sleeping /sitting area has a table and chairs and a sofa which will be made up as a double bed (this is a high quality sofa and bespoke mattress topping, which becomes a comfortable double bed). The underfloor heating can be adjusted to suit temperature preferences and there is also a small wood burning stove for additional warmth and ambience.

Free wifi is available though we can easily disconnect this if you would prefer to be off-grid during your stay - just let us know. Please note; external conditions may affect the wifi signal from time to time and it may never be sufficient for high bandwidth downloads and streaming films. It is more than sufficient for sending and receiving emails and web browsing.

Other things to note
Please note that the drive from the gate to the roundhouse is short but steep and does not have a tarmac surface. We advise guests to park their cars at the top of the drive by the gate and to walk the last bit; we can help to carry bags if necessary.

Am Falachan is located in Letters, one of 5 hamlets along a quiet single track cul-de-sac in the crofting community of Lochbroom, near Ullapool, Scotland, United Kingdom. The predominant surroundings are the natural environment - sea, hills, lochs, trees and myriad wildlife.

The village of Ullapool has local shops, restaurants, pubs, coffee bars, art galleries and is a small and delightful gateway to the NW Highlands and the outer Hebrides of Lewis, Harris and Uist. If you are walking, the Cape Wrath trail passes through Clachan, just 2 miles away on our road.

Hi, I'm Rebekah and I live in this beautiful place with my husband, Jonathan. We have 3 children, all now adult and living away from home and who share with us a joy of travel and experiencing other places and cultures. As a family we love the physical wilderness of the Scottish Highlands and have enjoyed walking, climbing, sailing, canoeing, rowing, running and so much more. I work here as a bookbinder and am also involved on a voluntary basis with a local art gallery, our community hydro scheme and children's mental health promotion.
