2 bedroom flat on top floor of Victorian house in central London. This was George Orwell's home in the 1930s.

The space

Welcome to my home. After I moved in 10 years ago I renovated the whole flat and created an open plan kitchen/living room. This is a wonderful space to cook, dine and relax in, with TV/DVD, loads of books and WiFi. It overlooks my garden and being south facing is often bathed in sunlight. With its high ceilings and generous windows the flat is always bright whatever the weather. The flat has a double bed, double sofa bed and single sofa bed and so can sleep 3 to 4 people comfortably. Good quality bedding and towels are provided.
The flat is on a very quiet tree-lined residential road. The local high street in Kentish Town is a few minutes away and has a good choice of shops, cafes, pubs and delicatessens. Then Camden Town with its famous market and nightlife is just a 10 minute walk away. Transport links are excellent: Kentish Town tube station, 6 bus routes into the heart of London and two overland trains: one that gets you to Gatwick and Luton airports and the other that crosses London from east to west. King's Cross/Eurostar is also just a short bus ride away. If you enjoy walking it doesn't take long to walk into town (45 minutes to Oxford Street) and 20 minutes to get to some of the best green spaces in London: Hampstead Heath, Regent's Park and Primrose Hill. There's also a fantastic public sports centre with 2 swimming pools and gym just 5 minutes away.
I will be here to welcome you and will be happy for you to call/email with any questions during your stay. I also have very friendly, helpful neighbours.

We loved this flat! It was very comfortable, tasteful, well-equipped, and clean. The neighborhood is central but quiet, and a short walking distance from good transportation. Sarah met us there as planned and made sure we understood how everything worked. This clearly is her home, and we felt immediately at home there as well. Definitely our place to stay when we return to London. Thanks Sarah!

We stayed in Sarah's flat for a week with our 14 years old young daughter. We enjoyed our stay very much. The flat is very cozy and very comfortable. It is located 3 minutes waking from kentish road where all the supermarkets , shops , restaurateurs and more. Yet the neighborhood is very quiet. From Kentish road another 3-4 minutes walk takes you to the local underground station. The local station is just 5 stations away from Oxford circus which makes it very central. The flat is fully equipped and you have all you need for your stay. We arrived the flat late at night so I requested Sarah to buy some things for our first morning. Sara refused to charge us for that and I appreciate that a lot. I highly recommend Sarah's flat for spending a holiday in London. Thanks Sarah and see you soon on our next visit to London.

Sarah is a great host! My family had a wonderful time in her place which is in a really calm neighborhood and still close to cool shops and restaurants. It is also well connected thanks to 2 close metro stations. If my family and i decided to meet in London again, it would definetely be in Sarah's flat :)

I enjoyed my stay at Lawford Street enormously. Sarah was an extremely accommodating host who went out of her way to make me feel welcome. Her apartment is spotlessly clean, spacious and light and perfectly located in a quiet and pretty street - yes, I did see a fox - yet just a pleasant stroll to train, tube and bus transport links. I especially loved the generous living and kitchen area with its views onto the garden from two large south- facing windows. I recommend it wholeheartedly and would stay there again in an instant.

We enjoyed our stay in Sarah's flat. It was in a great location for us on a quiet street, minutes away from the busy Kentish Town High Street and a short walk to Camden. The flat was a great size, clean and cosy. We felt very at home there. Sarah was a great host, very accommodating and did everything to help us make our stay comfortable.

We really enjoyed this flat--it was the perfect place from which to experience London. It is on a very quiet street and we felt it was a peaceful place to come home to after a long day and to enjoy a relaxing morning before heading out. The place was very spacious for 2 people and we liked the bright sunny living area and spacious kitchen as well as the view of the garden. We also liked the neighbourhood, although it might be a bit gritty and removed "from the action" for some...but it was perfect for us. There are tube stations about a 10 minute walk north or south, but we took Sarah's advice and used the buses where possible. The Forum is not far away if you want to see a show, and the northern line is very convenient for getting into central London quickly. I also recommend a trip up to Highgate Cemetery which is just up the road by bus. We used CityMapper to get around which was very useful.

Sarah's flat is exactly as described in the listing - no bad surprises here! The flat is beautifully and thoughtfully renovated to a very high standard. My son and brother-in-law both wanted to move in for good! Everything worked perfectly and the place added comfort and ease to our busy visit. Wonderful to have such a quiet, yet central retreat. Sarah was friendly and helpful, and also patient and courteous about our late arrival on day one. Highly recommended.
