Taigh Leosaval is a beautifully restored former croft which sits at the foot of the hill after which it is named. It is in a completely secluded position among the North Harris hills, a short distance from the stunning Hushinish beach and with eagles, deer and sheep as your nearest neighbours.

The space
There are four bedrooms - two doubles, a twin and a small single room. It is lovely just for one or two people or for up to seven. There is an entrance porch for outdoor clothing. The bathroom has both bath and power shower and there is a 2nd separate WC. The fully equipped kitchen diner has a range cooker with gas top and electric oven, a large Smeg fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and a separate utility space with a washer dryer. The living room has 3 sofas, an open fireplace, lots of books and games, and a TV and DVD player with a large selection of films. You'll find plenty of coal in the shed.

The house has excellent free WiFi. There's plenty of parking, and a small front garden with a bench to enjoy the view.

It's a 25 minute drive to the nearest shop at Ardhasaig, so well worth stocking up before arrival. Tarbert has a good grocers, Munro's. We encourage you to use the many excellent local shops on the island. Be aware that most places close on a Sunday.

Guest access
You will have the whole house to yourself.

Other things to note
5 night minimum
Wellies can come in handy!
Mobile signal in the area can be very poor. There’s a landline at the house with an honesty box.
The peat in the area gives the water a brownish colour but this is perfectly safe and normal!

Location

Isle of Harris, Scotland, United Kingdom

The house is situated a couple of miles from Amhuinnsuidhe towards Huisinish and enjoys a totally private, secluded position with the wild hills behind, and looking towards the sea, the Isle of Taransay and the hills of South Harris. It is wonderful to be able to walk straight out of the back of the house up into the hills where you can roam for miles with only deer and eagles for company. The views from the hill behind the house are spectacular and on a clear day the dramatic shape of St Kilda can be seen rising from the sea.

The house is on a tiny road which winds along the peninsula and ends at Hushinish beach, once voted "Best Beach in Britain" by a national newspaper. The views here across to the Isle of Scarp and beyond are indescribably beautiful, and there is another white sandy 'secret' beach that can only be reached by a footpath over the cliffs, about an hour's walk.

Leosaval is the perfect place to find peace and to see incredible wildlife. Eagles are sometimes seen from the kitchen over breakfast! It's a cosy, comfortable house with curtains made from local tweed and artwork on display by some of the wonderful painters and photographers who live and work on the island.
