No specific welcome procedure so to say. The caretaker shifted our luggage promptly from the taxi to the house. The description met the listing very well. The location in Arpora is peaceful and secluded, may not exactly be an ideal location for a tourist.

We were in Goa from 7th Nov. to 11th Nov, 2016. Our stay in Monte Carlo Retreat was absolutely comfortable. The location is quiet and serene. The campus is clean and well-maintained. The house is clean, spacious and equipped with appliances that work very well (though the operation of the washing machine was a bit confusing). The kitchens and bathrooms are equipped with geysers and the water supply is continuous. It's easy to access shops and restaurants from Monte Carlo Retreat. Our compliments to Ms. Dorothy and the caretakers for a wonderful experience. Thank you.

The stay was wonderful. But the aspect of getting the rooms cleaned during the stay was very difficult. You could think of improving that aspect.

Dorothy was communicating with us from the day we made our bookings to help understand what we needed and help us plan accordingly. The place is not hard to find and is so calm and beautiful that the pictures don't do justice to it.

The apartment is infested with bedbugs. Please choose wisely. Bedbugs tend to be transported with your luggage so there's a great likelihood that you will take them back home with you. Additionally, there are other issues that are important but we could've overlooked them if it hadn't been for the bedbugs. But just to help you make an informed decision, I've listed those as well. The apartment is not functional. Small things like dishwashing soap, broom, etc were unavailable. These things are inexpensive and you can't really expect guests to go the supermarket to get such small necessary items. Secondly, the geysers are horrible! Either they don't work or they spew boiling water that's going to scald you. The taps to which the geyser is connected are not user friendly. Even the caretaker had a tough time with the hot and cold water controls and eventually tried to convince us that the cold water was actually hot water. In the 3 days that we stayed there,we bathed in ice cold water. If you like a shock and a shiver, then go for it. Thirdly, the bed linen looks and feels like its at least 20 years old. It looks and feels coarse to touch like a sack. The caretaker is a good guy but in the absence of basic facilities, there isn't much that you can expect from him. Given our experience with the bedbugs, and the absence of basic facilities, paying Rs. 17,600 for a 3.5 day stay, you choose whether it seems like value for money.

Response from Dorothy:
I must admit that Divya and company are a true example of people who say one thing and maintain a deep grudge inside. To begin with they had made a reservation at our villa for 5 guests but ended up being more than 5 and we accomodated them with extra mattresses. Divya and her friend were heard arguing by our caretaker as to who was going to sleep on the mattress. The beds are sprayed with pest control periodically and so her claim of the presence of bedbugs is ridiculous. They used to bring food stuff and eat in the bedrooms and so bits of food stuff and was pizza thrown around in the bedroom. There is a dining table with chairs provided in the villa, but of course it is their choice as to where they want to eat. There is a provision made for cleaning if they wish to do it themselves. Besides there is also daily cleaning done by our staff, but at an extra cost which they did not opt for. The geysers are fully functional and the caretaker specifically went and explained the geyser connection taps. I personally could not visit them during their stay as they arrived on the first night at 2am (which was told to me in advance) and they used to return back to the villa at very late hours on other days. But I was in touch with Divya on her cell phone( during her days of stay) enquiring if everything was ok with the stay and not once did she mention that there was any problem at all. If there was a genuine issue she could very well have mentioned it then, and not write such a false review.
