Las Amapolas offers a spectacular view of the Belize Barrier Reef. Our beachfront casita is tucked among swaying coconuts palms on the sandy shores of Ambergris Caye. Once a part of a coconut grove, its now a peaceful tropical retreat just 30 minutes away from town by golf cart and a short ride to Secret Beach.

You may occasionally notice sargassum on the shoreline, a natural occurrence caused by seasonal ocean currents and weather patterns.

We have two units available: 1A and 1B.

The space
Our casita (386 sq. ft.) features a private balcony, a king-size bed, and beach chic furnishings - a perfect blend of simplicity, nature, and comfort. Naturally beautiful and thoughtfully designed for relaxation.

Our casita also has a kitchenette where guests can refrigerate and heat up food.

Before booking, please read about sargassum season in Belize (typically from March to August, with the peak between mid - June and the end of August). While Ambergris Caye does experience some sargassum, our area at Las Amapolas is generally mild compared to other parts of the island. At times, it may carry an unpleasant odor, but this is temporary and natural.

Fortunately, we're blessed to have Secret Beach nearby - just a 15 minute golf cart ride away. It's one of the island's most beautiful beaches, known for being sargassum free. Located on the west side of the island, it offers calm, crystal - clear waters perfect for swimming, several beach bars, and a lively, fun atmosphere.

We invite you to relax and soak up the sun at Las Amapolas, where you can enjoy the beach views right from your casita. For swimming, we recommend taking a trip to Secret Beach for the best experience.

Power Outages:

Power interruption can occasionally occur on Ambergris Caye. At Las Amapolas, we do our best to ensure you remain comfortable during these moments.

*Water remains available even if the power goes off.

*Power is typically restored within a few hours by Belize Electricity Limited, the island's electricity provider.

Where you’ll be

San Pedro, Belize District, Belize

Our neighborhood, known as Mata Grande, is one of the most beautiful areas on the island. Here you'll find a mix of private homes, boutique hotels, and cozy condos surrounded by peace and nature. Las Amapolas sits on a lovely, calm beach - perfect for relaxing or enjoying quiet times. On weekends and holidays family members may come to relax and enjoy the day.

Our closest neighbor is Captain Robby, who lives with his family in the same compound. The main road is easy to access, though a bit bumpy in places. Just a short three - minute walk south along the beach, you'll find Tropical Escape Grill & Bar, open for lunch and dinner and offering guests a pool to enjoy.

A few steps north is Mambo Restaurant at Mata Chica Resort, a high-end resort that also offers day passes for pool access. These are the closest dining options , though there are several more within a 10 - 15 minute drive, along with many choices in town.

Nearby, you'll also find two small local shops offering essentials like ice, drinks and snacks. They're are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For a wider selection, visit The Palm Supermarket, about a 12 -minute ride south on the main road - open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

A trip to downtown San Pedro, about a 30 minutes south, offers a taste of island life with dive shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, shopping, and nightlife. Closer to home, the famous Secret Beach is just 15 minutes away by golf car. Its know for it's clear, calm waters and beautiful sunsets - and being on the leeward side, it's free of sargassum.

You'll find plenty of beach bars and restaurants there, For a relaxed vibe, visit Mistico Belize Restaurant and Bar, the furthest south, or visit Ix Chel Resort, a chic, boho style small resort on the north end. They offer a Resort Access Pass for a small fee that allows you to spend the day at their beach and use of their kayaks, paddleboards and other beach toys. If you're in the mood for something livelier, try one of the beach bars in the middle of the strip - perfect for music and fun.
