This detached one-story house was built 99 years ago and was once a typical type of housing in this area. We call this style “Edo nagaya”, a row house in past periods. In Tokyo, now it is rare to see this type of buildings which still survive after having witnessed wartime. The space
In addition to those characteristics such as a historical value of the Edo-nagaya house, the area is also known as “the town of alleyways”. You will find a particular scenery with labyrinthine alleyways, residences, shops and a zone which has a high concentration of wooden buildings including lots of factories. Our one story “nagaya” house consists of two rooms, a kitchen space, a bathroom and the toilet separated from the bathroom. 4 sets of futon, Japanese bedclothes, can be prepared.

Then this area received a large number of people. It is said that this was one of the most densely populated areas in Asia at that period, and those people created a vibrant local culture. Kyojima district with its shopping center “Kira-kira Tachibana Ginza” has continued to change as time goes by. Nowadays we do not see the same energy, like once brought by the congestion of people, but still we are nourishing our local culture which is unique and creative.
