My band mate and I came out here to write/record part of our album away from the distractions and noise of LA, and to get some inspiration from nature. We loved all the decorative art and musical instruments around the house. The place even has an electric piano (big bonus!) We loved what we wrote and recorded Tons of windows and light! I would recommend coming on a weekend that isn’t too hot to enjoy the land and the view. It’s very quiet and still. We saw bunnies and lizards and heard many kinds of birds and coyotes! It was very peaceful. It’s not too hard to reach, only a little bit of dirt road (and our Corolla did it fine.) It’s close enough to the stores/shops/restaurants that if you forget something it’s ok. The fridge is tiny and there isn’t an oven (hot plate burners instead, for good reason in the summertime!) so plan accordingly for your meals. Dino is very responsive, kind and helpful. We didn’t have any problems with communications and he always got back to us right away. We will be back in the fall.

Dino's place is just a few minutes north of Yucca Valley. If you like coyotes, dove, quail, rabbits, birds and a beautiful night sky, this is a good place for you. The double bed is firm, a must for me. And the internet was fast enough to watch movies on Amazon prime and videos on Youtube. If you take an HDMI computer to TV cable you can watch movies off your laptop, or rent movies in town. There is also a DVD player. The dorm fridge does not really make ice. There is a gas station at the base of the hill as you enter Yucca valley where you can get 7 lbs of ice for $3, and then store it in the small freezer unit after putting it in smaller zip-locs. There is a Walmart on the east side of YV, and a few local eateries of note. C S Coffee Shop my favorite, located on the main drag just west of the road heading to Pioneertown. Two Guys pizza, a bit pricey, but good food. Natural Sisters, in Joshua Tree, for good organic breakfast and lunch food. You are about 30 minutes or so to downtown Palm Springs for a day trip. And you are just a few minutes from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Vegas is about 4 hours away using the old desert road running from 29 Palms up through Kelso and Cima. Dino was very responsive to any calls or emails. Nice guy. Nice place for a secluded, quiet getaway.

Never saw Dino which was fine. Just contacted him through text to get instructions for entry to the place. I liked the privacy of the owner not being around. Secluded spot but easy to get to Yucca Valley which has all amenities. Was there during December so was cold when we entered but once we got all the heaters going it was fine. Good $$ value if you get 2 people to stay there for a week.
