This lovely family cottage is located on Lake Huron, 3 minutes south of Mackinaw City. Away from the hustle and bustle of town but close enough for a quick trip for your evening guilty pleasure of Mackinaw fudge or a fresh churned ice cream cone. Enjoy the incredible views of Mackinac Island, Bois Blanc Island and the Mackinac Bridge from the privacy and comfort of the spacious sun room. With seating for 10, it will be the focal point for your family gatherings. There is space for everyone and the room welcomes you to sit back and relax. Play a game of cards, or tell ghost stories - it's a perfect place to reconnect with your family or friends. The cottage was completely remodeled in 2010 - everything, including appliances, are new.
The Mackinaw House is an opportunity to find peace, tranquility, joy and adventure. With a view of one of the world’s most beautiful bridges, and Mackinaw Island which is majestically set between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas our home is a perfect vacation destination. Nestled in Northern Michigan, the Mackinaw House is a safe and charming location for your next visit to the shores of the Straits of Mackinac.
The Mackinaw House is a two story structure with an interior decorated with family heirlooms and paneling made from native species of wood. The first floor is inviting and calming with one bed room, a mud room including a washer and dryer, a full kitchen and dining room, a small den, and a full bathroom. The Mackinaw House is a getaway, a true oasis away from the rat race, with stunning sunrises and a palette of colors at sunset.
The second floor has a rustic feel with log walls in the family room, two bedrooms and a second bathroom. The walls in the bedrooms are a combination of light cheery colors and knotty pine wood. The family room has a television, couch, and an additional dining room table and hutch. There is a very small kitchenette in the back of the family room. The Mackinaw House was built with our own hands with the intention of creating a lake house with that “welcome home” feel. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The beach is rocky so bring your water shoes.

CHECK IN IS 3PM; CHECK OUT IS 10AM
LATE CHECK OUT MAY RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF UP TO $50/HOUR. Our properties are generally booked solid and we frequently have guests checking in the same day you are checking out. Please be considerate of other guests and our cleaning staff. They need adequate time to clean and prepare the cottage for our next guest.
b. DAMAGE DEPOSIT. This agreement is contingent upon receipt of the damage/reservation deposit. If the deposit is not received, this agreement will be null and void and the reservation released with no further liability against the owner of the property or his agents or representatives. The deposit will automatically convert to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied to the rent; however it is fully refundable within 14 days of departure, providing the following provisions are met:
. No damage is done to the property, its contents or grounds, beyond normal wear and tear
. All debris and rubbish are properly bagged and placed in the trash container provided or per the instructions provided at the property.
. All keys are returned to the original location and the property is locked and secured. (There will be a $25 charge for lost keys).
. All charges incurred during the stay are paid prior to departure
. No linens are lost or damaged
. Dishes, pots, pans, etc. are washed, dried and properly stored and the property and grounds are left in the same condition as you found it. Any issues with the property condition needs to be reported to the manager within 12 hours of check-in.
c. PAYMENT. The balance is due 30 days before your arrival.
d. CANCELLATIONS. A 60-day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than 60 days prior to arrival are subject to a 5% cancellation fee or $50, whichever is greater. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, or that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advanced payment and damage/reservation deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS. Monthly renters must cancel one hundred twenty days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least ninety (90) days prior to check-in.
f. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY. There is a maximum occupancy for this property. An additional charge of $20 per person per night for guests in addition to that will be assessed.
g. CLEANING FEE. A one-time cleaning fee is charged in addition to rental fees.
h. LINENS. Linens, bedding and bath towels are provided in all properties (except The Mermaid).
i. RATE CHANGES. Rates are subject to change annually.
j. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS. Any exception to the above policies must be approved in writing.
k. STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS. No refunds will be given for weather related problems. Roads are generally well maintained and we do not refund due to road conditions.
l. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. Improper disposal of diapers or feminine products may result in forfeiture of your security deposit.
m. LOSS OR DAMAGE. Guest agrees to indemnify the cabin owner and/or his agents and representatives from and against all liabilities, damages, and other expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, which may be imposed upon, incurred by, or asserted against cabin owner and/or his agents and representatives by reason of (a) any failure on the part of Guest to perform or comply with any covenant in this agreement; or (b) any injury to person or loss of or damage to property sustained or occurring on the premises on account of or based upon the act, omission, fault, negligence, or misconduct of any person whomsoever other than owner. Guest shall be liable to owner for any and all damages to buildings, fixtures, and grounds due to misuse and/or neglect or by failure to observe any of the provisions of this agreement.

Chuck and I have been together for 30 years and have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. We enjoy the outdoors, yoga and photography and we LOVE Michigan! When we met, one of the many things we had in common was that we grew up vacationing in Northern Michigan. As a result of those wonderful summers, we came to love the outdoors. It was such a part of us that we knew some day we'd have our own place here. Our son and his wife were married on Mackinac Island a few years ago and that was when we decided to purchase a cabin. We wanted to provide a special place for our children to bring their children in the years to come and we found the perfect spot. We began to rent it out a few years ago and since then, we started our own business (Mackinaw Getaways) and we now help over 20 families rent their own vacation homes. We love the outdoors and the possibilities are endless here. Swim, fish, kayak, canoe, sail, hike, bike, scuba dive, hunt, bird watch - you name it! It's all available there.
