Villa Terrazza is --incredibly--as lovely and romantic as pictured. The 150 year-old villa has a beautiful broad tiled terrace with tall palms, potted flowers, a tiny refreshingly cool pool, and a stunning panoramic view. It sits on the edge of the Sorrentino cliff, as do the grand hotels of the town, overlooking the town's bathing "beaches" directly below and the entire Bay of Naples. The location was ideal for us, since we preferred to be on foot or use public transportation the entire time. Within minutes' walk were great (and good) restaurants; shopping (Italian designer, boutique, leather artisan, supermarket); sunbathing platforms with loungers, umbrellas, restaurants, and water access; the port with hydrofoil, ferry, tour and pleasure boat rentals; churches, a museum or two, galleries; the train station with local and coach bus connections. Our apartment was spacious for ourselves and our adult daughter and would be perfectly suitable for 2 couples. It was attractive, clean, and opened on the terrace, and we appreciated the convenience of the kitchen, especially since we were close enough to town to be able to stop back for a snack instead of buying all of our meals out. One thing that is a "must-do" is the boat tour to Capri with Andrea (or his able employee , Andrea "II"). Villa guests get discounted fares on an excursion to and around the island of Capri. While we had originally thought going to Capri was too "touristy" for us, this boat trip felt intimate as Andrea skipped the long line into the famous "Blue Grotto" and brought us to the Green Grotto, the White Grotto, and Mother Nature's Cave. We swam off the boat in several places and stopped on Capri for lunch (included). Andrea is a cheerful and laid-back host who speaks good (lilting) English. Although we were nervous when no one was there to unlock the gate and greet us at check-in, the kind woman at the nearby gift shop helped us in and get into the same relaxed mode. We loved our Sorrento vacation, and the entire Villa Terrazza experience.
