Margherita's place is in a piece of paradise. It was quiet and relaxing, away from much action, but a short drive to town. We loved being outside on this beautiful, charming property. Margherita and her family were incredibly welcoming and kind. They gave us advise on things to do and places to eat over a glass of wine. Kitchen was equipped with everything you need and there was even some food, homemade olive oil and wine waiting for us. The private patio was a lovely place to enjoy a meal and we liked having the 2 family dogs running around. There is a nice hiking trail through the woods right next to their house. There is a fire place with wood available, we enjoyed fires each night. We enjoyed our stay so much and wish we could have stayed longer. You must have a car to stay here and don't stay here if you want to be in the middle of action. This is a wonderful get-a-way with great views and beautiful gardens.

The Artist’s Shelter is a special place: olive groves that tuck you away, the smell of the earth, the cloud formations over the hills, the birds, the peace of coffee under the arbor, the quiet of the night sky. It is a place of extraordinary beauty. Margherita and Nicola are gracious hosts: responsive, thoughtful and willing to share. Their careful planning and efforts show in every detail. The house restoration itself is solid, roomy, well-designed and built from high quality materials. The windows and French doors allow for great light, with sturdy, refined shutters to regulate it. The kitchen is compact and well-equipped. The view from the sink begs to be painted whether you paint or not. Shopping is convenient with a high-end supermarket 7 minutes away. There are good king beds, quality furniture and linens, and two large bathrooms with tubs we spent a lot of time lounging in. There is ample hot water and good water pressure. For the cooler months, there are powerful radiators if the fireplace is not quite enough. There are antiques scattered about with Nicola’s art work hanging in the living room. If you are lucky, there will be persimmons, pumpkins, chestnuts, and olives in the autumn. And when you are ready to venture out into the world, there is wonderful Lucca just a few miles down the road and endless exploring in the Northern Tuscan hills. Everything is just as it should be here. This became clear to me on my walks to the compost. Looking out over Margherita’s & Nicola’s beautiful property, I knew we were very, very lucky to have had this time in this wonderful place.

I just spend two months at this gorgeous, delightful villa in the outskirts of Lucca, Italy. It was an amazing place to stay, everything was perfect and so fun to experience. Cooking in the kitchen was wonderful, the view was amazing. I had many guest come visit me, they all loved the villa and hated to leave. I had all of the guests take their photo from the kitchen window, a special place! Everything was perfect, great laundry, both beds were king size, a full dressing room, two completely full bathrooms with very good water presser so the showers were great. The view from every window was amazing, the photos on line do not do justice to the actual villa and the views. . Our hosts were great, helpful and generous, I felt at home and very comfortable. I was very sad to leave these wonderful people. I enjoyed being in the country, no urban noice, only nature, fresh air, peaceful. The location to Lucca was great, easy to get to the grocery store, there were severel restaurants close to the villa so you could go out for a dinner and did not always have to go into the main town. The location of Lucca is fabulous for day trips around Tuscany, which I took great advantage of. I always felt safe, their location is perfect; quaint, quiet and remote with amazing enjoy the beauty of Tuscany at it finest! What a great experience! I would go back tomorrow if I could, staying at the villa met or exceded my expectations. Thank you for this great adventure!

What's wonderful space and wonderful hosts. Felt very welcomed with a bottle of wine, food in the fridge, fresh fruit and their award winning olive oil! 4 nights were not enough. Hope to book again for a longer stay. My friend and I so appreciated the help and hospitality. Thanks to you both.

This is our second stay at the Artist's Retreat and it looks the same. Pictures represent it well. Great location near Lucca but allows you to experience the Tuscan countryside. One of the greatest drive ups ever!!!

A me piace coltivare rose e l'orto in estate. Non abbiamo la piscina. Ci piace molto accogliere le persone e faccio delle ottime marmellate che offro ai nostri ospiti.
