The cottage lies at the bottom of an old military road which winds its way over open moorland with with magnificent views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Killiegowan Wood is just a short walk away and is lovely to visit any time of year but particularly so in Spring when it is awash with wildflowers and full of birdsong. In the opposite direction is just a short walk to a quiet sandy beach where you can visit a picturesque small chapel perched on the rocks. A short walk from the schoolhouse takes you over Trusty’s Hill and its vitrified fort to the interesting 15th Century Cardoness Castle.
