Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Whether you're looking for a one night business stopover, a couple of nights to attend a wedding at the Brig O'Doon, or a self catering holiday break, Doonbank Cottage's Bothy offers an exclusive, flexible & private accommodation.

The Bothy is a beautifully presented & spacious, one bed detached house. Set in 4 acres of Doonbank Cottage's woodland garden on the banks of the River Doon , it is a very peaceful and quiet location.

One (medium sized) dog allowed.

The space
The bothy sleeps a maximum of two adults. We also have a free cot for under 2s.

Downstairs we have a sofa bed,. Bedding is available on request for an additional £23 charge, payable on arrival.

As well as having full access to our 4 acre woodland garden and river path, the bothy also has it's own private and enclosed space and patio area with BBQ to relax in.

Situated in the picturesque village of historic Alloway in Ayrshire, a 10 minute walk to the world famous Brig O'Doon, Burns National Heritage Centre, the Brig O' Doon Hotel and Burns Cottage.

On the edge of the main town of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland, the Bothy has glorious views over the idyllic River Doon, which runs for half a mile as the property's eastern boundary, offering excellent opportunities for bird watching and riverside walks after a busy day.

Guest access
Guests have a very spacious parking area next to the Bothy.

Our 7kW EV charger is also available to guests for a fixed one off cost, which means you don't have to hunt out charge points or waste valuable holiday time waiting for your vehicle to charge! Book on arrival

We can also normally offer guests a free lift to the Brig O Doon if you are coming for a wedding. Just ask.

Other things to note
Guests bringing their pets should note that we do not allow pets to be left on their own during your stay.

There are plenty of dog friendly restaurants etc in Ayr and we do have a doggy book with lots of information, including dog friendly restaurants.

We have substantial experience of welcoming dogs, and whilst we know that they are your best pal, and behave impectably for you, when in an unfamiliar environment, with a range of strange smells, they can become stressed which can result in them marking furniture, or going to toilet in the property.

Clearly this is not acceptable.

If you do want to go out without your dog, we do have a dog sitting service. We charge a minimum fee of £25 for up to two hours. Subsequent hours are charged at £12.50 per hour / part hour. This includes, dog walk (on lead – extendable lead).

My work: Retired
I am now retired and now really enjoy managing the Bothy, meeting some great guests and enjoying a really good life re-balance. Prior to this I was a Learning and Development Manager for a number of companies. I am married to my wife Susan. We also have chickens and honey bees! Doonbank is a very special place and an amazing location and I absolutely love the peace, tranquility and wildlife.
