A comfortable private room, bathroom and den with separate entrance. Close to Fort Knox. Easy access to Mammoth Cave, Lincoln's Birthplace National Historic Site, Elizabethtown Sports Park, the Bourbon Trail and Churchill Downs in Louisville.
Entrance to the room is by a private side door with your personal key. There are six steps outside leading down to the door (see photos). Guests with mobility issues can take a longer route around the house to reach the door. The bathroom will not accommodate a wheelchair and the bathtub has no hand rails. It is a bathtub with normal dimensions, not a walk-in model. Parking is close to the entrance. The bedroom opens into an enclosed patio. The room looks out on our secluded back yard to which you will have full access. A den is next to the sleeping room with more space to relax. The den has a large TV but we dropped our cable service because we could not justify the expense for the small amount of TV we watched. We presently use the TV just for watching DVDs and streaming Netflix. Microwave, coffee pot and refrigerator are available in the den. We recently upgraded our modem/router to provide a stronger wifi signal.
We will meet our guests on arrival and plan for at least one of us to be available during your stay. We are also available by phone or e-mail.
We are located in a peaceful residential neighborhood with very little traffic. Several restaurants are just a few minutes away.
You will need your own vehicle or use the local taxi service.
Ironing board, iron and a comfortable inflatable mattress are available.
Guests will have access only to the covered patio, bedroom, bathroom and den in the basement.
Interaction with guests
The privacy of the apartment prevents much casual contact with guests but we are available by text or phone call.
