If you’re seeking a romantic beachfront retreat near Weligama, this elegant colonial-style, one-bedroom beach chalet may be just what you are looking for! The design of the chalet is unique, with a bedroom and attached dressing room occupying a circular space and a large glass door leading to a terrace and exotic garden with fab views of the Indian Ocean.
Welcome to Villa Muhudu Bella! Muhudu means sea, and everything about this little chalet was inspired by the ocean. The chalet’s geometry is rather eccentric! The bedroom and attached dressing room occupy a circular space and a curved staircase leads from the bedroom to the bathroom, which also has a circular design. Glass doors lead from the bedroom onto a private terrace where exotic hibiscus flowers frame the sea views. The chalet is secluded and it is a real favourite with honeymooners and couples looking for privacy.
The chalet sits to one side of a private estate of five villas immersed within tropical gardens bursting with fruit trees, exotic flowers and shrubs. An infinity swimming pool and a small spa for aromatherapy and Ayurvedic treatments is also shared with the occupants of the other villas. The gardens are home to monkeys, iguanas, mongooses and many exotic birds.
Steps lead down from the garden to a deserted swathe of sandy beach and the lapping waves of the Indian Ocean (which you can hear when you’re sleeping, showering and relaxing on your private terrace). You can swim in the sea here and there are some offshore reefs nearby for snorkelling and diving, as well as other leisure activities such as surfing nearby.
There’s no kitchen in the chalet, however you have a superb chef at your disposal and you can order all your meals and snacks from our butlers. You can dine privately on your own front terrace, on opt for a candlelit dinner-for-two on the front lawn. We like to spoil out Airbnb guests, so we have included a lovely British, American or Sri Lankan breakfast and a three-course dinner cooked by our chef (international cooking with an Asian touch, and Sri Lankan meals), and we happily undertake special requests for dining and cater to special diets.
We serve soft drinks, juices and mocktails. You can bring your own alcohol with you, and our butlers will mix it with your favourite chasers and serve it to you chilled. Alcohol may be purchased from liquor shops in Weligama or in Galle.
One or more of the other villas may also be booked in combination with Villa Muhudu Bella. Or, if you are looking for more rooms, perhaps as a large group, a yoga retreat or an intimate wedding celebration (up to 24 guests) you can book the whole estate.
We are on hand to help you with anything during your stay so please ask any questions! Our butlers and manager will also look forward to sharing their recommendations with you.
We look forward to welcoming you!
The chalet is yours alone! You have an ensuite bedroom and a sea view terrace. You also have access to spacious tropical gardens, a lush lawn, an infinity swimming pool, free WiFi, a little spa and off-road parking, which are shared with the neighbouring villas on the estate. Our chef and villa butlers are also at your disposal and there’s direct access onto a beach

We live on the property and are available anytime if you need us (we can be there in just a few minutes) but also appreciate your wishes for privacy. Our villa butlers are available from morning until late for ordering food and drinks, and we also have 24-hour security.

Hi, I'm Anna and I'm from Russia. I first visited Sri Lanka with my husband Simo, who is from Serbia many years ago and after falling in love with this beautiful island paradise we now call it home.
We created a nine-bedroom villa called Eraeliya & Gardens near Weligama, on the south coast, so that others would be able to experience the beauty of the island as we did and experience the friendliness of the people in this Land of Smiles. Our backgrounds in interior design and civil engineering enabled us to create a property that blends the island’s fascinating colonial history with contemporary design, and our passion for gardening has resulted in our beautiful one-acre tropical garden. We also love the island’s ancient system of Ayurveda so we made a little spa at the property too. We invite you to come and stay to experience everything we love about this Indian Ocean island!
Why did we choose Sri Lanka? Sri Lanka is such a diverse country and its southern coast, particularly around Weligama, is very special. Our beach is secluded, yet Weligama’s main surfing beach is just two-kilometres away and there’s a water sports centre close by offering snorkelling, diving, kayaking, and bicycle rides through inland villages and paddy fields. This is also a very serene place to practice yoga and you can join a local class (we can also arrange teachers to come to the villa). Weligama, nearby Mirrisa (famous for whale watching) and Galle (a great place to visit for its well-preserved 17th century colonial fort) offer many places to eat and drink, plus many shops, and we will share all of our recommendations with you.
We hope to see you soon!
