About this listing

Our farm cottage offers amazing rural views from a comfortable fully self contained 3 bedroom cottage. Enjoy local wineries and historic gold mining towns. Snowfields are 1 hr & 40 mins away and we are located 3 1/2 hrs drive north east of Melbourne.

The space

Come and stay at Glenloth Springs Cottage in Staghorn Flat, the gateway to North-East Victoria's high country and the renowned gourmet food and wine region. Our cottage is situated in prime position surrounded by lakes, rivers, snow country, national parks, old country towns, the list is endless.
Glenloth Springs Cottage is on a picturesque 300 acre beef and sheep farm located in the stunning Kiewa Valley only 15 minutes from Wodonga and 3.5 hours drive from Melbourne. Ideally suited to families or couples wanting a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, it has everything you need to enjoy a home away from home. The cottage has a fully appointed kitchen, spacious lounge with table tennis and linen and towels are provided. Offering complete privacy in a tranquil, scenic setting there are three private bedrooms all with soft, comfortable bedding suitable for up to five guests.
The cottage has one bathroom (with deep bath tub), and shower. Bring your bikes and explore the rail trails in Bright, Beechworth or Lake Hume, or sit and unwind on the veranda and indulge in wine and nibblies. The beautiful Kiewa river courses its way through the township of nearby Kiewa (7 minutes drive). The Murray river, Milawa gourmet region and Rutherglen areas and the Alpine areas of Bright, Mt Buffalo and Falls Creek are all day trips away.
Nearby Yackandandah (15 minutes drive) is an old gold mining town and has quirky gift shops to browse in or relax at a café.
Whatever you like doing, Glenloth Springs Cottage is in the centre of it all, so come and enjoy some good old fashioned country hospitality.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to go for a walk on the farm and go down to the creek. When the chooks are laying guests can collect eggs for themselves and there is a big old tyre swing that can be used too. The pool area is the host's personal space and not available to guests.

Interaction with guests

I enjoy and welcome interaction with our guests if they come over to our house, otherwise we totally respect their space and leave them to enjoy their surroundings and peace and quiet. We are usually around most of the time and may duck out from time to time.

Other things to note

My wish is that guests feel like they are truly welcome and as comfortable as they are at home.
In the pantry I have made up a first aid kit that includes items such as a hot water bottle, deep heat, strepsils, bandaids etc.... so that you have access to all those little things that you have at home and you don't have to race out to the shops. There is also a porta cot that is available for use.

We loved our stay. The cottage is very well appointed with everything you could possibly need (except maybe butter for the delicious warm bread!) The location is great and the view spectacular. We can't wait to return.

We had a delightful stay at Jacqui's house. What an amazing retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The house had everything we could possible need including a better stocked pantry than our own house!! We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in the late afternoon looking out over the property. The freshly baked warm bread on arrival was a delight as well! We got to watch a baby calf being fed by bottle, see the chickens in the coop and swing on the tree tyre. Our baby was also well catered for with plenty of toys in the house. A fantastic stay only a very short drive from Albury and Wodonga.

An absolutely fantastic family friendly place to stay. From keeping warm by the outdoor fire while cooking marshmallows to walking in the paddock and talking to with the animals, you'll be planning your next family stay here the moment you leave.

Fabtastic place for a nice get away. Views are spectacular. As is the hospitality and bread on arrival we received.

Response from Jacqui:
Oh thanks Chris, glad you enjoyed the bread. It's seriously the easiest thing to make, I use a bread maker and it's just water flour and yeast. I think the type of flour you use is important. I use Laucke flour crusty white mixed with a small amount of German multigrain. You have to get the quantities spot on too and use warm water in cold weather to activate the yeast better. Let me know how you go, cheers Jacqui.

I am very family orientated, my family comes first in everything and I basically just love people. I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories and where they have come from and the journeys they are on. I can learn so much from people and that's why when I have time I love reading autobiographies and biographies, it opens up my world that bit more. I love living on the land and getting my hands dirty and I love cooking, bike-riding and renovating old furniture. In the last 5 years we have travelled to Thailand as a family and stayed on 'out of the way' Islands and it is my favourite place in the whole world. I love my country and I am very proud of it so for me hosting guests whether they are from Melbourne or Malaysia means that I can share our beautiful place with them and they can have the country experience without the huge price tag attached. My life motto I think would have to be "Don't take life too seriously as no-one gets out alive" .
