The space

By main road #1. Outstanding views. Remote. Hikes at the doorstep.

Welcome to the rustic 70's. This spacious attic apt comes with a separate entrance, cosy bedroom ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) cm beds), bathroom with a shower and a large sitting room with single sofa beds (80 cm). Decorated in the traditional Icelandic 19th century turf house style ("baðstofa", a farm's living/sleeping room).

The attic has a "kitchenette" as shown on photos, where you can prepare breakfast and simple meals, but is not suitable for serious cooking since there is only one source of water in the apartment. For a complete list of appliances see Guest Access.

Linens and towels provided.

This is our second home. We rent out the attic during summer months only. There may be guests in the main apartment and we ask you to be considerate and not make much noise.

Guest access

The attic is accessed via outdoor spiral staircase. Separate entrance and access to the whole attic (URL HIDDEN). The attic comes with space for preparing your breakfast, with fridge, microwave and coffee maker, coffee, tea and sugar.

We highly recommend a community thermal pool with panoramic views within 15 min drive is open until late night during summer.

Interaction with guests

We invite you to tell us a bit about yourself when you request to book, your group, your trip and your expectations. This helps us find out whether we are a match. We are experienced world travelers - and hosts. We love meeting new people and exchanging ideas and experiences. Since we travel ourselves we may not always be around for you, but when we are available we are more than happy to act as your local guide, escort you if you wish and to share stories, and equally; a bottle of wine. We want you to be comfortable in our home - and we also respect you privacy. When we are away, we make arrangements for you stay.

Restaurants: Great culinary experiences in Akureyri. Ask us.

Let us know what time of the day you will be arriving, in order for us to accommodate for you arrival/meet and greet you.

Other things to note

Here you are able to switch off and relax - you can go hiking and enjoying the pristine nature away from hich tech devices, or just sit in the living room and admire the extraordinary views, or maybe read about the admired Icelandic poet and naturalist who was born here 200 years ago and made this landscape part of his immortal work, now translated into English.

Please respect the tranquil atmosphere we have created.

We couldn't believe how stunning the location was! Really beautiful, peaceful place with incredible views from every single window of the mountains and fields around. The actual building is very unique and authentic. A really special place to stay and lovely welcoming hosts too. Thanks Sif and Oli for a great couple of nights!

Absolutely stunning stay with Sif & Oli! The farm is located just off of R1, so couldn't be more conveniently located! The view is stunning, we spent the whole night sat on the grass, watching the landscape change under the midnight sun to the occasional bleet of a distant sheep. The bedroom was fantastic, luxurious and clean, as was the lounge. There were a few bedrooms, but they told us they only accept one group or family at a time, which is a really nice touch. Despite having an early start the next dya, they made us a fantastic hearty breakfast, including lunch for the day! Would highly recommend staying here.

Sif + Oli's place is exactly as advertised. Nice private apartment upstairs. Has a fridge and a microwave. It's about 25 minutes from Akureyri, which is a wonderful town, and it's nestled in between mountains on their 4,000 acre property... That's not a typo. The wifi was spectacular. 25Mbps download/25Mbps upload, which was a wonderfully pleasant surprise. We got amazing photos of the Northern Lights from their property, it's quite dark at night. Sif + Oli were perfectly polite and responsive. We don't really have any complaints. If we had to nit-pick, the beds are small, but not smaller than they look in the photos. I believe it was a full size mattress, but they sit near the slanted roof. So if you're clumsy, you may bump your head in the morning.

Sif and Oli's place is a quaint place to stay right outside of Akureyri. We found the views beautiful and loved the cozy attic space! Thank you!

Cute place in the attic of a stand alone traditional house on a farm. The hosts were nice and helpful. Amazing scenery. Very clean, just gotta be aware of how many electricity appliances used, as its quite an old house.

The place was comfortable and spacious, one big room with 6 single beds and one othrr room with 2 bigger beds, the location was a bit far for us, but a car helps to manage.

Hi, we are Sif and Oli, a couple of well travelled professionals.

Yes ;) we absolutely LOVE to travel. We have exchanged homes all over the world for the last decade, and we are not nearly there yet ;) We cherish the philosophy of exchanging homes with people that can teach you something about the world and yourself. We have met most of our guest and try to do so whenever we have the opportunity. Some of our guests have visited multiple times and many of them have become our friends.

We have four grown up kids and our work is in Europe and in Africa. We are nature lovers and we think its important to protect the environment. We do all kinds of outdoor activities, recently mostly sailing.

We will be happy to have you at our very special place in the north of Iceland. We have lived in Iceland, Belgium and Spain but we also travel for work. Now, when kids have left home, we might travel even more, work and pleasure.
