Quiet, sunny guest room in a comfortable SE Portland home. Cook in the modern kitchen, play the grand piano in the living room, and browse the big library. Lovely park across the street, bus stop at the corner, right on the newest MAX line.
You have a private bedroom and private bath, and access to the well-stocked kitchen, comfy living room (help yourself to the grand piano), and a lovely (renovated in 2017!) patio for enjoying your morning crossword or evening glass of wine outside.
Interaction with guests
I'm pretty quiet and mostly keep to myself, but am happy to chat. I made one of my closest friends through Airbnb!
Other things to note
The bed in the guest room is an incredibly comfortable pull-out (top-of-the-line from American Leather, new in 2014): my parents picked it out to sleep on when they visit (and they're fussy). I use Boll and Branch sheets, along with soft linen duvets from Eileen Fisher. You'll sleep soundly!
I have an outstanding professional cleaning service who come before each guest's arrival, so the place will be spotless when you check in.
No pets (sorry!) and no smoking (at all). Please keep in mind that I have neighbors with young kids, so quiet hours are definitely in effect.
The house is pretty meticulously organized, and would be a good fit for similarly tidy guests. The CDs are sorted by genre, by artist within genre, and chronologically by release date within artist; you're welcome to listen, but please return the records where you found them. Books are similarly categorized; again, feel free to browse and please replace books where you found them.
I'm a New Yorker, transplanted to Portland. I run a math education non-profit, focusing on exceptionally talented high school students. When I'm not chatting math with smart & cool teenagers, I spend my time brewing pourover coffee, mixing modern and classic cocktails, doing the crossword, playing music, and visiting my favorite cities worldwide.
