Spacious Studio cabin (bedroom is being renovated) nestled against the mountains just north of Flamingo Heights. We spend our days off here, so we block off Sunday-Tuesday but if you would like to extend your stay just send us a message!

Close to Integratron, La Copine and equidistant to Joshua Tree(17 min) and Pioneer Town. Near Giant Rock, home of the first UFO conventions.

The space
Our home is a cozy 700 sq ft (850 with bedroom) original homestead cabin built in 1972 that sits on 2.5 acres. We have a queen size bed with a very comfortable pillow top spring mattress. The bathroom has a tub shower combo and our kitchen is fully functional with cookware and spices. We have a hand crank burr grinder and a hario v60 drip coffee maker. Let us know if you want us to leave you beans.

Our place sleeps three if someone is on the couch and there is room for an air mattress but we also have plenty of space outside if extra guests want to camp so contact us about extra guests.

We have a record player and a modest collection. Feel free to bring records and listen through our Marantz 4300 and 940 speakers. The turntable sometimes needs to be set a few times as it is an older Technics semi automatic deck. Please keep music down after 9pm as a respect to our neighbors.

We have a portable heater( just turned off the propane for the spring and summer). Also, there is a very strong swamp cooler that keeps the house cool. We moved in last summer and even at the highest temps (around 106 last summer) it kept the house pretty comfortable. We are at 3500 feet and there is usually a breeze so it's surprisingly not that bad in Summer.

This is our escape from the city and we come here to relax so we have no television because the virtue of the area is the landscape. We do have wifi and watch Netflix on occasion and it is usually fine but can get choppy on occasion.

We do live here when we aren't working so some personal possessions will be present.

Hope you enjoy our desert escape!

Guest access
The house is all yours but the bedroom is not completed or furnished so we are renting it as a studio, please keep the door shut at all times because it's a construction zone. We also have over two acres fenced that are yours to roam and up new dixie mine road just one parcel is BLM land to explore.

Other things to note
We have one neighbor connected by a fence and his dogs may bark as you enter but they will stop shortly after arrival as long as there aren't coyotes or rabbits taunting them. The neighbors are also very friendly and our yards are connected by a gate. They don't usually come by but occasionally they drop in and introduce themselves. Landers is a small community and people here are very friendly and watch out for neighbors. We feel lucky to have them paying so much attention.

Landers, California, United States

Landers is the home of the Integratron and Giant Rock. The Integratron was built by George Van Tassel who was a ufologist and claimed it was capable of anti-gravity and time travel. He paid for it's construction by holding a series of UFO conventions at Giant Rock which used to have a structure beneath that he used for meditation. Giant rock is the largest freestanding boulder in the world and was home to a prospector named Frank Critzer who dug out Van Tassels meditation burrow and had it set up as a home. Critzer was under investigation on allegations of espionage and blew himself up under Giant Rock. The house is really close to La Copine which is the best restaurant in the high desert and even closer is Landers Brew which is a sort of divey craft beer bar with pool tables and live music often. Pappy and Harriets, Pioneer Town and Joshua Tree village are similarly about 15-20 minutes away. Willy Boy's grave is right in the neighborhood as well. Willy Boy was the subject of the movie "Tell Them Willie Boy is here" and the target of one of the last great western manhunts back in 1909. We are also right up against BLM land only separated by one parcel which happens to be against the base of the mountains to big bear. As a result we are at a higher elevation and have a sprawling view of the valley below which includes Landers, Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley.
