We live in a uniquely sited place that will soothe your spirit. Come to explore, to read, to unwind. Our home sits on the edge of Forest Park in NW Portland, which makes it feels as if you were miles from no-where, and yet is 5 min from NW Portland.
Maximum 2-4 people - depends on the extra bed added to the room.
There is a city tax and a state lodging tax which AirBnB collects.
No Smoking in the house.
Please respect “regular" quiet hours of 10pm to 7am. If you are out late, tip toe in.
We are on a well, our water is delicious straight from the tap.
We are on a septic system, TP can be flushed but, please, nothing else!
The house uses a satellite dish for its internet, which means that there is a five second delay built into any transmission, and a system limit on downloading - So no movies, or gaming. It is sometimes affected by bad weather. If you really need zippy Internet access, please bring your own AT&T or Verizon cellular Internet service.
The house also uses a satellite for TV; a DVR makes recording shows possible, but it has no internet connection for gaming or on-demand movies.
We will not enter your room while you are here, unless you specifically request it. If you need us to straighten the bed, clean the bathroom, or provide fresh towels, please ask.
There is one parking space available to you, marked by a sign on the garage door.
Breakfast can be arranged to handle special dietary needs - vegan, gluten free, etc.
We have lots of extra coats, hats, gloves if the weather turns and you are unprepared!
Muddy shoes need to stay in the front hall stone floor.
Our black cat is Flinder. Our golden retriever is Alice.
There is a house washer/dryer available if you need it.
Please let us know if something breaks while you are using it.

Goethe wrote, and I wholeheartedly believe: "Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
I thoroughly enjoy meeting people, and we have developed friends all over the world. A favorite place is The Netherlands where we once lived, and I dream of returning to Australia for an extended stay. I really enjoy ocean kayaking, rock-climbing, casual biking, and hiking. I am surprised at my "addiction" to the iPad which I have been able to incorporate into many aspects of my life... working with elderly hospice patients, cooking gourmet foods at home, or reading National Geographic by the fire at night.
We strive for a smaller impact on our world with strong tenets of sustainability in our daily lives.
Come stay. We live in a place that will soothe your spirit as we sit on the edge of Forest Park, and yet is only 5 minutes by car from the great restaurants and shops of NW Portland.
